The Los Angeles Lakers have kept busy working out NBA draft prospects over the past couple weeks, including second workouts with Marcus Smart, Aaron Gordon and Elfrid Payton. The Lakers also brought in Nik Stauskas, P.J. Hairston and Matthew Hezekiah to work out with Smart, Gordon and Payton (for quotes from each of their media sessions, click here). From pull-up jumpers to three-pointers to ball fake shooting drills, Lakers Nation caught it all on camera. Marcus Smart looks more consistent with his jumpshot which is encouraging, he seems to have trouble shooting on the right side (2 of 6) for some reason but he from the video he finished 8 of 12.

His form still needs a lot of work. But it’s honestly one of the easiest things to change about a player once they’re in the league and commit to improving.

When a guy has bad shooting form it doesn’t really scare me away, when a guy has bad footwork it gives me a lot of pause because that’s really hard to change. I think Smart will be very good in the NBA.

Smart weakness in my opinion can easily be fixed (perimeter shooting, shot selection, turnover prone) with a good coach, film, vets/mentor, he can make an instant impact with the Lakers but I’m hearing that Magic might take him at 4 if Exum is off the board which is discouraging but if Smart or Emiid fall to the Lakers at 7 that would be a steal.

  • Orlando Magic Fan

I am encouraged with Marcus Smart being a great offensive player through his workouts but i am very worried about him playing for the Lakers as players that are not great shooters or great offensive players are run out of town by the fans.

Come to Orlando we got better rebuilding pieces than the Lakers with Oladipo and Nikola and Tobias Harris and Harkless.Magic Fans will treat him better.Lower expectations and more room to develop and improve. No pressure.

    • VillainKing

How many championships have the Orlando Magic win??
How many great players have the Orlando Magic had??

    • LAL

      And no championship!

Yes, the Lakers don’t have enough pieces for rebuilding but I’m willing to bet that the Lakers are going to win a title first than the Magic.

What’s the whole point of having those young players when your team keep tanking every season?

  • charliehooper

    hezekiah is splash

  • VillainKing

Marcus Smart to the L.A. Lakers!!

    • LakersHeatBeef

I am calling it now Marcus Smart will be a NBA Superstar.

      • Clarkkent113

He really needs to work on that shot though. But yeah, I’m pulling for us to draft him at #7.

  • LAL

I don’t see Matthew Hezekiah in mock draft. Is he declared for this draft?

  • LakersHeatBeef

The best fit for Marcus Smart is the Lakers.Screw Orlando they are hot garbage.

  • Lucas

Who is Mathew Hezekiah? He can shoot!

    • Clarkkent113

He has a Rashad Lewis jumper.

  • LakersHeatBeef

Thank you for posting these cool workout videos of Lakers hopefuls.A+

  • LakersHeatBeef

The second interview with Marcus he said he would love playing with Kobe.

    • VillainKing

That’s true buddy he loves to play with Kobe..

  • TheTruthKills

I still think Smart ends up with Orlando because Exum may go sooner than expected.

    • Bruce

Latest Mock Drafts puts Exum at #2 to Milwaukee, Wiggins to Philly at #3, so yeah Smart most likely goes to Orlando at #4.

  • Bruce

Oh boy sweet looking jumpers from Stauskas, smooth release, too bad Lakers won’t draft him at 7. He would be a good fit for the Lakers.
    Latest Mock draft predictions:
    1. Jabari Parker-Cleveland
    2. Dante Exum-Milwaukee
    3. Andrew Wiggins-Philly
    4. Marcus Smart-Orlando
    5. Noah Vonleh-Utah
    6. Joel Embiid-Boston
    7. Julius Randle-Los Angeles Lakers
    8. Aaron Gordon-Sacramento
    9. Doug McDermott-Charlotte
    10. Nic Stauskas-Philly
    the rest not worth mentioning

  • bamsgt

Stauskas has the best stroke. Minimal effort and consistent.

    • nlruizjr

his release looks to slow or is that the video ????

  • Mitch

    PG Marcus Smart
    SG Kobe Bryant
    SF LeBron James
    PF Carlos Boozer
    C Chris Kaman

    • http://rantsofascorpio.wordpress.com/ Evan

I like your choice for guards, but that’s where it ends. We’re not getting LeBron. Boozer is on the decline, and Kaman is not happy with the Lakers.

      SF: Ariza/Deng
PF: Re-Sign our guys and hold out til 2015 for Love or a solid PF
C: Sign a fill in for a season, and go after Asik in 2015.

  • Lakers4Life

Bleh, too bad Marcus Smart is a mediocre shooter. Not sure if Lakers will draft him.

  • Chad

This is my case for Marcus Smart being drafted by the Lakers. The NBA is driven by great Point Guards and it’s simple the Lakers need a defensive stopper at Point Guard and they need a big strong bully on the ball defender.Marcus Smart answers that question.Lets also look at the offensive side of things and Marcus Smart can score in many different ways when he drives the hoop and finishes at the rim or when he gets to the foul line he shoots 75% and will improve shooting. Also he can hit 2 point jumpers and he can possibly get a hell lot better from 3 point country. Also factor in that Marcus Smart is a great rebounder and a excellent passer and a improving ball handler. He can play with the ball and off the ball.Marcus Smart is a great leader and very competitive with tenacity.

  • Edgar

I don’t want Julius Randle on the Lakers.Julius Randle will be a bust.Draft anyone but Julius Randle.Draft Noah Vonleh,Joel Embiid,Marcus Smart,Aaron Gordon,Elfrid Payton just get anyone but Julius Randle.Too many issues with Randle.
