Lakers Rumors: Steve Nash Not Thrilled About Putting on Lakers Jersey

With recent news that Phoenix Suns guard Steve Nash is keeping his options open this off-season, many people began to speculate as to whether or not the 2-time NBA Most Valuable Player could possibly join the Lakers and provide that point guard help they so desperately need.

But, in a recent interview with Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco of ESPN New York, Nash admits that putting on a Lakers jersey would be a tough pill to swallow.

“For me, it would be hard to put on a Lakers jersey. That’s just the way it is. You play against them so many times in the playoffs, and I just use them as an example, and I have the utmost respect for them and their organization.”

Nash has not been shy about his distaste for the Lakers in the past, even taking a shot at them in a Vitamin Water commercial. But this seems to be a major hurdle if the Lakers were indeed interested in bringing Nash to Los Angeles.

Other than the Lakers, Nash is reportedly interested in the New York Knicks and the Miami Heat, two Eastern Conference contenders that could use an experienced point guard.

I can see where Nash is coming from. But usually it was his team beating the Lakers in 06 and 07. I think it was only 2010 in which the Lakers actually beat a Nash led Suns team.

that was when we were still going through a transtion with lossing shaq. thats why the suns beat us. and it took them 7 games to do it. he was the mvp and the suns had a 62-20 regular season record still took them 7 games to beat us so he obviously wasnt that damn good

Respect though. Dude has class, its like kobe going to the celtics, spurs kings. A player of his caliber would do wonders though with chemistry as a team not only gameplay

Gasol and Sessions to Washington for JOHN WALL and Emeka Okafor.  This will save L.A some money to get Jamal Crawford.  Get Lamar Odom back. Pick up an aging vet either Gilbert Arenas or Tracy McGrady who were scorers.  They should provide some points off the bench.
A line up like this looks really good and should drop overall salary.
    PG – John Wall
    SG – Kobe Bryant
    SF – MW Peace
    PF – Emeka Okafor
    C – Andrew Bynum

    Reserves:
    Steve Blake
    Jamal Crawford
    Lamar Odom
    Devin Ebanks
    Jordan Hill
    Gilbert Arenas/Tracy McGrady
