The Lakers are reportedly interested in trading Pau Gaosl, even if they won’t openly admit it. One trade rumor that was released today was the possibility of Gasol going to the Toronto Raptors.

According to Marc Stein of ESPN, the Raptors reportedly sent the Lakers an offer for their 7-foot forward.

Stretch power forward Andrea Bargnani, veteran point guard Jose Calderon and fellow vet Linas Kleiza are among the players, sources say, whom the Raptors have discussed making available to the Lakers in a deal for Gasol.

Team management went on to say that they’re not looking to move Gasol, at least until Steve Nash has returned to the lineup. One of the reasons for acquiring Nash and holding onto Gasol in the off-season was to see how the two would work together on the court, so it makes sense for them to at least wait and see what they have there before making any drastic decisions.

Gasol has missed the last two games with knee tendinitis, and his status for Friday night in Oklahoma City is still uncertain.

Keep in mind the Lakers are also getting Jose Calderon, which is an even bigger deal. He’s BY FAR the best out of any PG’s we have besides Nash. And Bargani streches the 4 just like Ryan Anderson would. HIm and Pau both don’t play defense. But Bargani can go to the rack… I like the deal

Bargnani is a worse defender and rebounder than current Pau, which is to say pretty bad. Seems that people are overlooking the fact that the last few games the offense has been up at the top of the league. The defense has cost us two games that should have been wins. Neither Bargnani or Calderon is going to fix the uncontested layups and offensive rebounds that the Lakers are giving up.

The story that says the lakers won’t trade gasol talks about this trade. Why is there an article several hours later saying the Lakers are talking about it when they are not….the lakers are not trading anybody until they see. Everybody okay together. Period. Lets stop with these articles and rumors until we see everybody. PLEASE

  • stillearly dont stress

bargnani is irritating, super talent but never wanted to play defense of get rebouds, terrible terrible idea. plus calderon 9 million contract is something absurd. there’s nothing out there worth pau. the only one is kevin love, but minnesota will never give up him.

Make Pau a 6th man. He should be the Bench Mob’s captain and CENTER. Then his passing, shooting and intelligence will make the 2nd team really work. Plus, he will crush all the other 2nd team centers in the league. Leave jameson on the 4 and Hill on the 2nd team 4. Remember Pau won us two rings as our CENTER when Bynum was out.
Also, Kobe needs to learn to channel Steve Nash better for the first 3 1/2 quarters when we are desperate like this and trust his team mates, otherwise everyone goes to sleep watching Kobe shoot and then they don’t even play defense.
