Lakers Rumors & News Recap: Behind What Jim Buss is Thinking

By | June 1, 2012|

Most of the news circulating the Lakers recently have been about trade rumor after trade rumor. Don’t worry, change is coming. But what we haven’t seen very much of is the thoughts of those Lakers staff members who make these decisions. Mitch Kupchak spoke a little during the exit interviews with Mike Brown. Thursday on the “Mason & Ireland Show” on ESPN Radio, Jim Buss had very little to say:

“I’m very disappointed in the season. I thought we were a better team than this, but you can look at it as this was the first year these guys have played together with this coach.

“There’s a lot of things you can look at and build for the future and say they haven’t had the time to gel like other teams.”

Jim Buss isn’t a fan favorite and he has been criticized for some of his decisions. He seems to be on point with Lakers fans, though, when he talks about the high expectations of this year coupled with his disappointment in this season. Living up to Phil Jackson will be tough, and I am sure Jim Buss knows that when it comes to Mike Brown. Regardless, it looks like Mr. Buss is committed to being a championship team and will fight for wins.

Speaking of Mr. Jackson, what is going on with him and the Knicks? Phil was linked to talks with the Knicks, but N.Y. signed Mike Woodson to a three-year contract extension. It has been rumored, however, that Jackson is coming back to the NBA in some capacity or another.

I said it at the beginning of this season & now I have been proven correct. This team will not win & it will not win next season if Drew, Pau, World & the old guys on the bench are still on it. I also said that the Buss family should begin reloading for the future & they needed to find a future star for the club. They tried with the CP3 trade but it simply didn’t go through.

The Lake Show should not be paying tens of millions & get we we got, that’s for sure. This team is not only old but it is slow & lacks true desire. (Other then Kobe) Yes they got rid of L.O. but they did that not for the money they saved  as fans thought, they got rid of the circus that surrounded L.O. & new he was more rapped up in it then with the game. (They were correct) They got rid of Fisher because he was simply not effective. (We need to remember Fish left the team for more bucks a while back so lets keep this fair & remember that) Time Warner is not going to be happy paying the Lakers $150,000,000 a year when the fans don’t want to see them lose & begin watching the Clippers, let’s also understand that….

Bottom line is really simple, how to save tens of millions, plan for the future, get young & fast & lastly win…. Simple, trade everyone on the team over 25, begin rebuilding with youth & speed & desire. When Kobe finds out he will most likly not be winning rings to go ahead of M.J. he will demand a trade (As he did prior to Pau coming on board) & Kobe will get us 2 first rounders below #5 plus…Add Drew & Pau & world to the trades & you will have a whole new starting 5 who will be the future of the club & WIN while they learn. (We will also need a coach that can teach them & Brown is not the guy)

I agree, lets not bring anyone back to the team (Odom, Ariza). We need to start to rebuild. Sorry Kobe but we can’t build around a 34 yr. old shooting guard. As far as Bynum goes I am on the fence keep him or trade him. If he played inspired every night, no brainer, keep him. We need to get younger and faster starting now.

I just feel like we have lost that swagger that we had two years ago
