Lakers Rumors: Mitch Kupchak May Be Leaving Lakers

By | January 29, 2012|

Long time NBA Author, Roland Lazenby, just tweeted out that he’s hearing some noise about Mitch Kupchak leaving the Lakers. Please note that Lazenby has been a long time supporter of Jerry West and Phil Jackson, so a rumor to support the idea that the Buss family is on a mission to gain total control of the franchise is not too much of a reach for Mr. Lazenby.

With the Lakers off to a 1-7 start on the road, there is always going to be rumblings from top to bottom.

Just don’t forget that Mitch Kupchak has done a lot for the franchise, with the latest, building a back-to-back championship caliber team around Kobe Bryant.

It’s funny that a few years ago, the common view was that Mitch Kupchak was the person who was holding the Lakers back. Now, the common view is that everything good about the Lakers was done by Kupchak, and everything bad about the Lakers was done by Jim Buss.

On one occasion, Kupchak has said that the important decisions are made with the concurrence of all three involved (Jerry, Jim, and Mitch). I suspect that this is more true than the notion that Mitch was making all the calls a couple of years ago, and Jim is making all the calls today.

Regardless of the accuracy of the current rumor, at some point (sooner or later) Mitch Kupchak will leave the Lakers. When that time comes, his long service to the team should certainly be honored.

I guess Jim Buss isn’t gonna be happy until he has completely decimated this team. Having 16 championships with a proven formula seems to be wrong all of a sudden and trying to outdo daddy seems to be his mantra. He allowed the reigning 6th man of the year walk for basically nothing and he obviously doesn’t care about the success of the Lakers brand. I’m glad Dr Buss was still running things during the lockout…God only knows what little Jimmy would’ve done to us then! This probably will get worse before it gets better…during Dr Buss reign do you ever remember us having such a glaring need as point guard and nothing being done about it for this long? I don’t…let’s get ready to join the schmucks of the league everyone. The haters can now rejoice…

Lakers fans welcome to the new Frank McCourt. Say goodbye to Jack, Denzel etc.

If it wasn’t for Jim Buss’s love affair with Bynum they probably would have Jason Kidd who at the time of the trade rumor was still pretty good and even now would of been a step up from Fisher and the two rookies. Also I remember hearing last year that They could of got Melo but Buss wouldn’t trade Bynum to get him either.

Let’s say you blame Buss for the bad deals and give credit for the good ones. Bynum is all Jim Buss’s. Bad deal?  The Chris Paul deal which the League illegally vetoed was the best Laker trade since Gasol and comparable to Kobe’s. Score for Jim Buss.

So where’s all the McCourt/decimiation evidence? His problem is he makes no effort to court the media. As for decimating the team, he could start by releasing 2-points-a game-Fisher and let someone who might contribute to a championship one day start to develop. Then J Buss could officiallly be Satan.

Remember fans, this is short/lockout season, David Stern cheated out of a deal, and Mike Brown is no Phil Jackson (no body in the league is) so lets not blame everything on one person. I still believe we’ll make the playoffs this season but with a full season ahead next season with our heads on the championship again, we’ll be back to the good ol’ championship Laker days;) #GOLAKERS!!!!

Let Magic Johnson take over his position…

lol dude all you guys keep hating on him for trading odom but what u don’t understood was NO and LA agreed that it was OK to trade odom for a pick in which they could use to trade for CP3. after the first nixed trade of cp3.. read the newest article it reveals everything about the process.. stop crying mitch tried to get cp3 not once but twice and in doing so he thought the draft pick we received was enough because thats what the New orleans FO told him..

To be able to be successful, major changes should be done. Remember SACRIFICE is the key to SUCCESS!!! If Kupchack needs to go then so be it. Now Mitch Kupchack do you feel what the players you’ve traded feels like??? It hurts right???

*Here’s the challenge Mitch, prove us(lakers fan/supporter) that you deserve to stay. MAKE A MOVE NOW NOT TOMORROW NOT NEXT WEEK NOT UNTIL MARCH 15. It’s just like this GET DERRON WILLIAMS and DWIGHT HOWARD at the same time then you got the job. As long as you make a wise decision LAKERS SUPPORTERS ARE ON YOUR SIDE so come on move like a jagger.

  • Laikr1

lakers need daron williams /and dwight .and call phil jackson  or ask jeenie to contact phil .to come work part time on practice facilities . maybe a combination of two coaches can get this laker team in shape or fire brown its kinda feels like when we got rudy t and  like when phil took his vacation and we got gasol after  .we won it .plain and simple .and the flippers will kiss our dust ..tired of all the laker drama .just play and kobe needs to stop looking dumb when he misses  and takes dumb shots …dosent even acknoledge - it was his bad- SHOT ! . oooops i just missed .. AND THEN POUTS ..MAGIC NEVER POUTED ! OR KAREEM!
