Lakers Rumors: Los Angeles Interested in Jodie Meeks

By | July 6, 2012|

The Los Angeles Lakers have been very busy this off-season, first with their acquisition of Steve Nash and their ongoing struggle with Dwight Howard. However, the Lakers are still looking to improve their bench by adding solid role players.

According to a report, the Los Angeles Lakers are interested in unrestricted free-agent Jodie Meeks. Meeks last played for the Philadelphia 76ers and was a very reliable three-point shooter.

In the 2011-12 season, Meeks shot nearly 37 percent from the three-point arc and in the year before, Meeks was close to 40 percent. If the Lakers add Howard to their team, they will have another shooter the big man can utilize. Teams often double-team Howard in the paint and by adding a shooter like Meeks, the Lakers will be one dangerous team.

Meeks is a HUGE pickup for Lakers bench, Lakers last best outside shooter was Sharpshooter Glen Rice..i say pull the trigger either Jodie Meeks or Brandon Rush of Warriors..shooters are essential for Nash

I’ve seen video of Meeks and he has a quick release and a nice looking shot…great shooting form. Shot 40% which is not exceptional but he’s young (mid 20′s) and can shoot better than most. He has the single game Kentucky scoring record…56! Streaky shooter. Defense?

er I guess it was 54 points after watching the video… Unless he scored 56 another game lol

I would love to add this guy to our bench. He scored 50 something for Kentucky once, and when you look at his game logs for the 76ers last year you can see he is capable of getting hot from range. Totally fits the bill of someone who can make the wide open shots that Nash and the double teams on  Kobe and Bynum will provide. Him, Grant Hill, and Jordan Hill… What else would we need?

Mitch, go get him! He’s the young and athletic 3 point shooter we’ve been looking for, perfect guy to boost our bench!

Look, I’m from Philly and I can tell you all first hand, Meeks is garbage. Reason why Sixers made little to no effort to re-sign him is because, Philly fans hate this guy. He plays no defense and his 3 py shooting is vastly over-rated. As a Laker fan myself, I think they can do better. He may have scored 50 for Kentucky, but this is the NBA, not college.
