Lakers Rumors: Lamar Odom Wants to Return to Los Angeles

Share on FacebookTweet about this on Twitter

The Los Angeles Lakers made a surprising move in the off-season when they traded away Lamar Odom to the Dallas Mavericks for essentially cap space.

Welcome Back Lamar?

Everyone was shocked that the Lakers gave away a valuable piece of their bench for no one in return. But it seemed that Odom was the most devastated.

Odom loved his time in Los Angeles and found stability with his work and his family. ESPN’s Ric Bucher is now reporting that Odom is trying desperately to get back to Los Angeles.

The Lakers cannot reacquire Odom this season, but they can get the 32-year-old forward back via trade or if the Mavs buy-out his contract next season.

The Los Angeles Clippers are also very interested in Odom, but they do not have enough of the expiring contracts the Mavericks are looking for.

Get your Lakers Nation gear and show off your team pride!

Lamar Odom had to deal with a tough summer, and was not in the right state-of-mind to play basketball. Hopefully if the Lakers do get Odom back, he can find his previous groove and return to the elite level he was playing at before being traded.

It would be nice but I doubt it would ever happen because it is clear that Jim Buss is all about the money more then titles

Lebron pushed him to the 3 point line… I do also think some of that stuff Lebron did was a foul…

        • boobietime

sure should have been a damn foul. lebron puts all his strength into bumping and rooting pau out of his position and they call the foul on pau every damn time lol. pau shoud use his arms less though. if ron went and did that shit to lebron , he would have fouled out faster than wade in the 4th. oh well, i cant complain since the lakers actually got free throws this time lol. its just funny how they picked on certain players like fish, barnes(whats new), actually called fouls on wade(maybe it was punishment). he should miss games for that shit he tried on bynum. hes the new bruce bowen

Pau got tough all of a sudden, even stu was like…wow look at Paul!!!

  • Cobbie64

We need him at this point????

  • NoOdom

He demanded a trade and he got his trade. A lot of people say, “Oh, he should retire as a Laker  just cause he was a Laker before in his career.” The Lakers are a franchise who is trying to increase their chances of winning rings in seasons to come, they are not simply a retirement home for ex-Laker players with no future.

I like LO and would like to see him back in LA, but you have a point.

  • http://twitter.com/DeLanoCorleone DeLano Parker

Odom will be 33 and he only looked good here in the Triangle offense.
Its no secret that he struggles in Dallas because he isn’t a ball handler in Dallas and because they aren’t running a Triangle offense. Also remember for 8 million a year it will cost us 16 million in luxury taxes because we are over the salary cap.. We have to start building for Life without Kobe.. In 2-3 years this will be Bynum’s team and we will have to build around him.

  • Gchoa

Not only did the Lakers divest themselves of something of a malcontent when they shipped LO to the mavs, but it was something of an “addition by subtraction” move because it allowed Andrew Bynum the requisite minutes needed to effectively continue his development and flourish into the All-Star he is today.I agree that LO was an essential part of the Lakers past championship puzzle, but that was essentially in relief of Andrew and Pau when each was injured.  If you really think about it, Lamar was nothing more than a very expensive (albeit talented) insurance policy for Phil Jackson.

Can’t say I’m surprised i knew this would happen Lamar is destined to retire a Laker, first thing that came to my mind was when i heard he wanted a trade; this is going to hurt his career and marriage. He’s married to a fucking Kardashian and trying to take a Kardashian out of the city of Los Angeles is like trying to take a bone away from a rabid dog.

I say…. if it’s even plausible return (trade) the TPE and 1st round pick for odom, and let’s forget this whole mess even happened.

man people are fucking bugging saying they dont want him back if u look at it he was 1 solution to our championships the fuck i damn well want him back i feel if he didnt leave we wouldve won more games this season management trade picks for lo to come back were not getting anything all laker management does is put alot of rookies in d-league so why not trade picks for odom bring him back i want him back

  • Sti1lmatic

Let Odom sign with the Bobcats…perhaps he’ll shine there lol

  • Judi0013

We need to bring back ALL the guys the won us championship.

    Come back LO to LA

  • Theonewhosaid

Fuck the clippers LO will always be a Laker hes just a lil emo some times but a great ball player and he just finally realized that his heart is in Purple and Gold …the mavs just aint the business

  • Dg2

why can’t the lakers get him back? is there a nba rule that prevents this ?

    • http://profile.yahoo.com/OC2I5FWHTNUD7XGSA2UW4N2AL4 WTF

Yes he can’t return to La unless the mavs buy him out next yr or through another trade I believe. Just as fish was traded and bought out he too could not return to la this year as well. Its the new cba rule to prevent the famous BIG Z trade from the CAVs to wizards then being bought out and returning to the cavs..

I can’t help but feel bad for the guy. He’s going through such a shit time right now.  When he retires it should be in purple and gold.

  • Bonty94

Pursue him as a free agent in the offseason. Should be cheapish???

  • Fernando García
