With the reports of Lamar Odom allegedly abusing either crack cocaine or OxyContin, new rumors have surfaced that Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak has offered Odom a spot on the team if he goes through rehab, according to celebrity website Radaronline.com.

Mitch Kupchak, the general manager of the Lakers, offered the sensational lifeline to 33-year-old Odom’s agent, Jeff Schwartz, “because the organization and the Buss family are extremely concerned about him,” according to a source with knowledge of the situation, who spoke exclusively to RadarOnline.com.

“The Lakers are a family and even though Lamar isn’t currently on their roster, that doesn’t matter, he’s a two-time championship Laker,” the insider said.

Take these reports with a grain of salt as Radar did not hear directly from Kupchak himself, and the Lakers declined to comment on the reports.

There have been several current and former Lakers who have reached out to Odom and wished him the best and a speedy recovery, but there haven’t been any official reports suggesting that Kupchak has reached out to Odom yet.

We asked Twitter if they thought the Lakers should give Odom an opportunity and most of you believe that Odom should be afforded another opportunity despite the reports surrounding his personal life.

Rumors is the word that rings out. We’ll all be watching going forward. If true, classy move by the FO big picture. Again, no need to jump to conclusions, time will tell…

I love this site but over the last couple year it’s turning into TMZ…. if you can’t confirm your sources or get someone to go on record then don’t publish these stories… this would be a nice bit of news but this is a serious situation for Lamar and I would expect “THIS” site to show him the proper respect and only publish factual information … ok I’m gettin off the sope box… I’m prayin for you LO

Mike Beasley (Suns) cut within the next 48hours according to Arizona Central. I guess If I had to choose between “young marijuana” (Beaskey) and “old crack” (Odom) i’d rather go for the young lad.

    • Daryl Peek

I’m skeptical of Beasley but if you can get a YOUNG talent like that on the cheap? You can’t pass that up! Beasley would thrive under D’Antoni IMO. He would become a better three point shooter and not have the pressure of needing to be the man in Laker land, like he was in Miami with Wade. I would just want to see his rebounding get better as he would likely be a PF for us.

      • Zimmeredge

a better stretch for than Hill for sure.

    • Matt Williams

Beasley’s got more issues than just his drug problem. Lakers FO should steer clear of him, like they did Delonte West.

  • Marty Susman

The only way anyone should offer LO a spot is if they can give him a blood test daily while under contract & fire him with zero questions asked if he fails one…. His new family ruined the poor guy, sad…

    • Daryl Peek

Can’t blame his demise on the K fam. He’s a grown man who had issues well before them. It’s not that simple.

  • Jim213

I like many other fans support LO. But this isn’t the way to earn a spot on the team especially given next season’s challenges.

  • SpringBreakers

Any way you twist it LO is SOL.Dats it Serena Winters tweeted it’s FALSE dat Mitch Kupchak never offered Lamar Odom a roster spot if goes to rehab.Dis ish again SMH!Un huh i am still wanting Lamar back. Our FO is trifling mane.LO could easily crack dis Lakers roster ya’ll.
