Lakers Rumors: Could Kevin Love Land With The Lakers?

KevinLoveThe Kevin Love situation with the Minnesota Timberwolves is becoming increasingly more hostile with the superstar forward likely on his way out.

Apparently, one Eastern Conference executive believes the Los Angeles Lakers are in play for the versatile forward according to Ken Berger of CBSSports.com:

“They should trade him,” one Eastern Conference executive said. “No one thinks he’s staying. Everyone knows he wants to go to the Lakers.”

With the recent trade rumors circulating around Pau Gasol, the Lakers are obviously exploring all options considering the fact this season is quickly getting out of hand. The Lakers have lost nine of their last 10 and have numerous players injured, including Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar.

The only question moving forward is if the Timberwolves are interested in anything the Lakers have to offer. Obviously, Gasol would be the centerpiece of any trade, but the storied franchise has found it hard to move his contract.

Over the past few years, Love and Gasol have been mentioned in plenty of different trade scenarios. Although it may appear to be a stretch that the Lakers can land Love in exchange for Gasol, both teams appear eager to make a deal before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 20 and could begin discussions on a blockbuster deal.

Recently, the Cleveland Cavaliers decided not to acquire Gasol from the Lakers in a swap for Andrew Bynum. The Cavs chose to deal Bynum to the Chicago Bulls instead due to the fact that the Lakers were asking for more than just Bynum in the deal.

As for the Timberwolves, it remains uncertain what Minnesota might want in return for Love, but it’d be safe bet to assume other teams could offer considering more than.

This article is a Lakers haters worst nightmare.

This reality. Please let it happen for just Gasol straight up! Hahaha.

The Lakers have a first round pick this year but honestly if we got Love today & gave them our first round pick, what then ???? Yes Love is worth the pick since it would be maybe 10th or so & we could send them Gasol, the pick & maybe Johnson & Blake since Blake would be a great backup for them.
We would have Farmar as the starter with Marshall his back up as well as Henry.

  • Marty Susman

If the Lakers could get Love & Monroe, can you imagine Monroe, Love & Henry playing together, that would be one tough line om defense.

Fire MDA and get Kevin Love in a trade.I ran this in the trade machine it works.Lakers trade Pau Gasol and Nick Young with Jordan Hill for Kevin Love and Corey Brewer.I just ran it in the trade machine salaries match and it is a successful trade.Lakers are bringing Kobe back anyways no need to delay this trade.Make it happen and draft a top 5 player and the Lakers will be set for the future.

Hoping for this roster next season with a new coach that likes inside players because we will be a half court team with Post Up Plays.Hire Lionell Hollins.

Trade Gasol, Kupchak, and no defense ‘Antnoni for Love. LMAO. We need al three gone. How can Kupchak say we love D’anotoni andhe is doing a great job. He obviously does not listen to the fans or the Bleacher Report or Lakers Nation news or the ESPN we all know the problem is the coach lack of Defense and all the injuries due to his style of play. We need to keep Wes and Hills as they are the only ones I see trying to defend the hoop. .

Let’s bring in all the Bruins currently in the NBA, Love and Ariza at forwards, Hollins at center, Westbrook and Afflalo at guards. Subs: Holiday, Farmar, Barnes, Mbah a Mute, Callison. Think that team can compete? I know it’ll take a miracle for it to happen.

i bleed purple and gold! but im tired of losing. lakers can’t offer anybody for love. aim for a first round pg pick, let’s fire d’antoni! kurt is a much better coach.

  • Won24

If a 1st round pick is traded, I can guarantee it’ll be top 10 protected that year and unprotected the following year. That being said, trade the pick for love. If you continue to lose, you’ll keep the pic.

For Kevin to come to the Lakers, Kevin Love has to say, loud & clear to the press (Every GM needs to hear) that he wants to be a Laker, nothing else…. That will tie the hands of the Griz’s & force them t send him to the Lakers… Not sure but what if the Lakers signed Gasol to a long term deal (3) & send him off to play with his brother, they send Zack Randolph to the Griz’s & the Griz’s send Love to LA….

    • Cindi Venable

Love does not play for the griz genius.

  • ersliva

I would trade gasol along with their first rd pick plus sacres for love, brewer and turiaf….minny then gets to bigs plus they would get 2 first rd picks….Rubio and gasol would play great together and minny then would have sacres to back their starting center letting gasol to play soley power for them…while the lakers get love plus get a tall defensive small forward in brewer and a bench motivater in turiaf to relieve Kaman at center while hill relieves love….and jonhson then can relieve brewer…
and when kobe comes back with farmar the lakers can go with the following till blake and nash return if nash ever returns…
    Kaman/love/brewer/Bryant/farmar
    turiaf/hill/Johnson/young/marshall
    Kelly/meeks/
    nash/blake/harris
actually the lakers would get taller and faster defensively with this trade overall….
they also would have more heart and drive by getting turiaf added to the bench…while brewer gives them a tall athletic stopper at small forward…
    brewer and Johnson helps them
Kaman and turiaf at center is good
love and hill at power is good
brewer and Johnson at forward is good
Bryant and young at guard is good
the only weak spot would still be point with farmar and marshall
but this trade would get them into the playoffs imo and ruin minny getting a good 1st rd pick from the lakers in actuality…
but adding gasol and sacres should also get minny into the playoffs as well as the 8th seed while the lakers come from the depths and get the 7th or 6th seed….
