Lakers Rumors And News Recap: Mike D’Antoni Remains Optimistic

Mike D'Antoni Kobe Bryant Pau GasolWith the Los Angeles Lakers moving forward with Mike D’Antoni, the veteran head coach has embraced the challenge of putting the pieces back to together in order to get this once dominant team back to form.

Although the team choosing D’Antoni over Phil Jackson is still fresh in everyone’s mind and arguably the wrong decision at the time, the Lakers will head into an uncertain future with D’Antoni at the helm.

Along with D’Antoni having a lot to prove in his second season with the team, Kobe Bryant’s return from surgery on his Achilles remains a hot topic. Kobe has made a remarkable recovery from the severe injury suffered back in April, but the five-time NBA champion still doesn’t know whether or not he’ll suit up on opening night against the Los Angeles Clippers in late October.

With Kobe’s timetable uncertain and so much changing with the departure of Dwight Howard, D’Antoni will be facing the toughest challenge of career. All the odds are against the Lakers heading into the 2013-14 NBA season and many believe the team may be headed into a downward spiral for quite some time due to the new CBA restrictions, but D’Antoni remains optimistic and believes things will be much different next season.

D’Antoni will make an effort to tune out all the chatter and criticism directed toward him next season and believes the team’s chemistry will be much improved in the meantime.

Although ESPN predicts the Lakers will finish 12th in the Western Conference next season as this team struggles to compete in a highly competitive conference, anything can happen from here on out while no longer dealing with high expectations.

Further FUELS my belief that management should’ve acquired an insurance policy to Kobe being someone who could help to hold the fort down. Should’ve acquired Lil Nate (Nuggs) especially since he went cheap which many tard analyst called a bad move too.

I believe they did with Nick Young. plus Meeks is still here and Farmar can play some 2.

This helps depth wise but we’re talking about the ability to hold the fort down while KB24 returns similar to what Nate did last season with the Bulls. This also includes being reliable during last minute situations aside of helping to increase team depth and the ability to go deeper in the playoffs too.

I recall dantoni and Nate really not getting along in new york so since the Lakers love dantoni for some reason, Nate wasn’t coming here. you’re right about Nate though, he was remarkable last year. Nick Young can have big games as well though

Not dissing Nick but proof is in the pudding (game proven on court) though I hope that he manages to have his best year next season. Dumbtoni may not have gotten along with Nate to an extent but it’s still about wins and losses though this move would’ve of possibly helped him to get a future contract but Dumbtoni still has 2 guaranteed years left on his contract.

I wont speak on Nate and MDA’s relationship but Robinson was getting more minutes and scoring more points with D’Antoni VS Isiah Thomas in NY.

Duhon, and Toney Douglas likely cannibalized his touches in MDA’s system because they ran the system better and were better defensively than Nate. Nate is a gunner as a PG, we all know MDA prefers a traditional PG.
