Lakers News: Wesley Johnson Returns To Phoenix December 23

NBA: Phoenix Suns-Media DayThis is a year of redemption for young Wesley Johnson. The former fourth overall selection in the 2010 NBA Draft was traded to the Phoenix Suns last season, where he saw his playing time dwindle significantly.

Johnson could barely see the floor for the Suns early in the season, and it wasn’t until Lindsay Hunter took over as head coach that Johnson was able to show what he can do.

Now a member of the Lakers, Johnson will get his chance to show the Suns what they missed out on December 23 when the Lakers travel to Phoenix to take on the Suns.

The Suns were a thorn in the side of the Lakers last season, as they constantly gave the Lakers trouble even as they were mired in a 25-57 season. For Johnson to not only be a part of a bad team but to struggle to get playing time as well, he will undoubtedly have a chip on his shoulder when he returns to Phoenix next season.

Johnson averaged 8 points and 2.5 rebounds in only 19 minutes per game for the Suns last season.

With a new team and a new number, Wesley Johnson is looking to take the next step of progression in his career and to shove it in the face of the Phoenix Suns along the way, I’m sure he will have no problem with that either.
