Lakers News: Steve Nash Suffers Setback; Likely Done For The Season

It has been a roller coaster ride for Steve Nash ever since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers by the Phoenix Suns in the summer of 2012. The trade was thought to potentially be one of the missing pieces to the championship puzzle in Los Angeles, but ultimately seems to have turned out to be a sign that the end is near.

On Tuesday night, Nash dished out assist number 10,335 and passed Mark Jackson on the NBA’s all-time list. Unfortunately, that assist may be his last with the season apparently over for Nash according to Mike Trudell of Lakers.com:

When healthy, Nash still shows flashes of the point guard that dominated the NBA for many years while leading the Suns. Although those flashes are still there from time to time, the two-time NBA MVP may have played his final minute in this league with Nash acknowledging that fact via Trudell:

Although Nash plans to play out his contract with the Lakers, Father Time may have finally caught up with the veteran after this latest setback. The Lakers have indicated a desire to retain Nash for next season rather than using the stretch provision, but his fate still remains uncertain and Nash is well aware of that fact.
