It seems like years ago that Steve Nash wore his number 10 jersey for the Los Angeles Lakers.

The future Hall-of-Fame point guard is just one of many injured players on the Lakers’ roster and his exact return date is still questionable. For the most part, Nash has been injury free his entire career but ever since coming to Los Angeles it seems like the injury bug won’t leave him.

Nash is currently dealing with back issues that have sidelined him for quite some time. The point guard has appeared in only six games and there is a chance he could be out for the remainder of the season. The Los Angeles Times writes that if Nash cannot make significant progress in the coming weeks, he may have to calls it quits for the 2013-14 campaign:

The Lakers hope he can play Jan. 28 against Indiana, but if his training doesn’t go well in Vancouver, Nash said the rest of the season could be in jeopardy.

“If it’s the same old, it’s probably another month or something of trying to come back … and then what’s left of the season?” he said. “I definitely realize we’re up against a deadline here to get healthy.”

The Lakers have three point guards out with injuries, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar being the other two. The coaching staff is hoping Kendall Marshall can continue with his stellar play, but sooner or later the lack of depth will come back to hurt the team.

Nash will continue to train in Vancouver with his personal training, but the clock is ticking for the 39-year-old guard to make an impact in his Laker career.
