Lakers News & Rumors Recap: Lakers Out of the Summer League Finals
Nick Young has spent the last few weeks at the Drew League in Los Angeles, where he was named the “Week 10 Player of the Week.” Young delivered 43 points, eight rebounds, and three assists and led his MHP squad to a 85-84 OT win over the Jaguars.
In a new interview with the L.A. Daily News’ Mark Medina, Metta World Peace shares how he knew that Dwight was going to choose the Rockets after Kobe Bryant made it publicly known he wants to play past his contract expiration date, which is at the end of the upcoming season. Kobe stated that he can see himself playing an additional three to four years. Many believe Dwight was not keen on stepping into Kobe’s shadow. Knowing it would be a few years before he could be the face of the franchise wasn’t what the big man wanted.
Lakers Nation caught up with Golden State Warrior and son of Lakers radio broadcaster, Klay Thompson, at The Drew League over the weekend. Thompson will be a free agent two summers from now, and depending on the Lakers cap space situation, he could be a Lakers’ target. Check out the interview here.
Although some former players have come out with their opinion against Dwight and his decision to leave L.A., Charles Barkley did the opposite recently and blasted the Lakers. Although seemingly always tough on the Lakers and Kobe Bryant, Charles was a basketball powerhouse and his opinion matters. During an interview with ESPN recently, Barkley believed it was the right move for Dwight to leave L.A. He went so far as to say that if Dwight didn’t sign with Houston that the Golden State Warriors would’ve been the better option over the aging Lakers.
Could Kobe be expecting baby #3? On his Instagram account yesterday afternoon, Kobe posted a picture of himself and Vanessa with a heart around it, and the caption of the photo may have hinted at having another baby. Check it out.
