Lakers News: Ricky Rubio Stands Up For Lakers’ Pau Gasol

Ricky RubioIt seems like every time the Los Angeles Lakers lose, the blame falls on one person, and for the most part, the finger is pointed at Pau Gasol.

Gasol has been severely criticized this season and his name has been brought up in trade talks throughout the season. Even though Gasol has done a lot for the Lakers in his tenure with the team, many people are upset with the way he has performed this season. There is a chance that Gasol may end up with another team if the Lakers don’t improve, a sad ending to a great Laker career.

Gasol has had success at every level of basketball and his fellow Spaniard Ricky Rubio does not like how the Lakers are treating Gasol. Rubio spoke to USA Today and talked about Gasol and all that he brings to the court.

“He proved to the league he is one of the best,” Rubio said. “He can pass. He can shoot. He can rebound. He can do a lot of things. I think if you use him in the right way he is a top player in this league. If they don’t want him, we are more than welcome to get him.”

This season, Gasol has averaged 12.8 points, 7.9 rebounds and 44 percent shooting from the field a game. He played very well during the Lakers’ three-game winning streak and the Lakers are hoping they can get performances like those out of him on a nightly basis.

The Lakers will play the Timberwolves Friday night in hopes of getting their first win in the Grammy road trip.
