Lakers News: Pau Gasol Aggravates Groin Injury; MRI scheduled for Saturday

Two-time NBA champion Pau Gasol has been putting up All-Star-caliber numbers over the last month or so, but it hasn’t been enough to get the Los Angeles Lakers back on track.

On Friday, Gasol simply couldn’t keep up with the red-hot Al Jefferson of the Charlotte Bobcats who lit up the veteran for 40 points. One of the main reasons for Gasol’s defensive struggles may have been a re-aggravated groin injury, according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

In the loss to the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, Gasol suffered the groin injury in the first half, but was able to return in the third quarter. Despite sitting out of practice and nursing the groin injury over the last two days, Gasol may be back on the shelf after battling through the injury against the Bobcats.

The injury to Gasol is just another in an endless string of injured Lakers – including Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Xavier Henry.
