Lakers News: Pau Gasol ‘Absolutely’ Looking Forward To Free Agency

Over the past three years or so, Pau Gasol has consistently been mentioned in trade rumors. With Gasol currently in the last year of his deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, there’s a high probability that he’ll be sent elsewhere for the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 20.

Regardless of Gasol’s immediate future, the veteran forward/center says he’s looking forward to becoming a free agent this summer according to OC Register’s Bill Oram via Serena Winters:

Earlier in the 2013-14 NBA season, Gasol mentioned that he wouldn’t be opposed to returning to the Memphis Grizzlies in free agency. Currently, Zach Randolph’s presence in Memphis may prevent Gasol’s return, but anything can happen between now and July.

At this point in time, Gasol remains on the trading block for the Lakers with a potential deal on the horizon. The most recent trade rumor involves the Charlotte Bobcats, but many believe that Gasol will not be headed to Charlotte before the deadline.

Another trade scenario potentially involving Gasol is with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Kevin Love has been linked to the Lakers all season long, but a deal has been highly unlikely until Tuesday when trade talks began to heat up once again.
