Lakers News: Nick Young Says Lakers Playing With ‘More Fight’

After losing 12 of 13 games, the Los Angeles Lakers have started to get back on track during the current seven-game road trip winning two out of three games away from the Staples Center.

Despite not having leading scorer Nick Young on the floor against the Boston Celtics, the Lakers were able to come out on top against their bitter rivals in the second game of the road trip. Fortunately, the momentum carried over on Sunday with the Lakers beating the Toronto Raptors at the Air Canada Centre.

Following the second straight win for the Lakers, Young spoke to the media saying the following about how the team is playing according to Janis Carr of the OC Register:

A bit of controversy started brewing following the loss to the Phoenix Suns in the first game of the road trip after Young was ejected for throwing a punch after getting thrown to the ground by rookie Alex Len. Young was suspended for his actions and openly disappointed in his teammates for not having his back during the altercation.

Fortunately, Young said he cleared the air with his teammates the following day and now it appears that may have helped bring them closer together with the Lakers currently on a two-game winning streak.

With three games in the books on this road trip, the Lakers will head to the Windy City to take on Derrick Rose-less Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Monday.

Kendall Marshall and Nick Young+Jodie Meeks+Manny Harris are one hell of a good young back court they got plenty of scoring and passing with those guys combined.Kendall Marshall is a great Point Guard and Nick Young is a great Scorer they make for a fun team to watch when they win. They have more heart and effort also more grit than before as a team.Keep on winning.

    Go Lakers!

I’ll summarize – if you take a look at his picture/profile – he is an ex-military scrub living on government subsidies – obviously has a severe learning disability and can only formulate simple words he can sound out – and in between watching spongebob squarepants he types in the only website he can spell and comments to feel like he is still saving the world from evil doers

I don’t know about more “fight”…but the team’s chemistry certainly seems to be a lot better over these last couple of games. I think MDA’s decision to insert Kelly into the starting lineup has something to do with that – the rookie is playing fundamentally sound, smart basketball and he and Pau are playing well off each other. Kendall Marshall is also emerging as something of a team leader and a majorly stabilizing force. Nothing like have a real ball handler and decision maker out there at the point, isn’t it?

Nash should retire and let Marshall get more experience under his belt. He has become such an important piece to this team, and I don’t want it to end once the 3 other points guards come back.

The only issue I have is if MDA get fired, will Marshall keep up this level of play. A lot of players have been known to be a product of MDA’s system, and I would hate for Marshall to be one of them. He is a really good point guard, one of the only true point guards in this league.

I don’t want to get my hopes up with this team, because they can find a way to break your heart. But I do believe they have played with more effort these last two games. Will they keep it up? That remains to be seen. But I have seen a lot more effort these last two games.

Need to see it over a bigger sample size. These next two games will tell a lot. Chicago and Miami will test the meddle with their pressure D. The Pacers are on the horizon also.

2nd straight win. not by a big margin either but have shown that they can handle the pressure in the 3rd and 4th quarter with out blowing a comeback or a lead. with more fight? not so much of more fight just better team chemistry! Kelly Marshall and Young are great players in the mike dantoni system! go lakers
