Lakers News: Nick Young Says Lakers Have To Win ‘For The Fans’

The losing streak continued for the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday night with the team losing a fifth game in a row. The Lakers were unable to snap the five-game skid against the Cavs at the Staples Center and as a result have lost the last 11 out of 12 games.

Following the loss to Cleveland, Lakers leading scorer Nick Young spoke to the media and said the team needs to turn it around for the fans according to TWCSportsNet:

“It’s too early in the season to give up…we have to do it for the fans”

The current losing streak for the Lakers couldn’t come at a worse time for this team. The Lakers will embark on a seven-game road trip on Wednesday heading to Arizona to take on the Phoenix Suns in the second game of a back-to-back and then head to the east coast.

Although the injuries have continued to pile up for the Lakers, this team simply can’t figure out a way to shoulder the load while Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Xavier Henry, Steve Blake and Jordan Farmar try to get back healthy.

Along with taking on the Suns on Wednesday, the Lakers will face the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Orlando Magic and New York Knicks before heading back to Los Angeles on Jan. 28 to face the Indiana Pacers.

Typical 3rd quarter tank – these idiots look like an AAU team – Typical MD(M)A team – no defense – no rebounding – no chance unless we have an MVP coaching on the floor for him

This isn’t your daddy’s Lakers, or your granddaddy’s Lakers. This ain’t even your cousin’s Lakers.

This is Lakers 2013+. Too bad Dr. Buss can’t come back and fix things.

It’s great that Nick Young and others have heart. That and a quarter will get you a phone call, but it’s good to know that they’re doing what they can, with what they have.

Good, bad, or ugly, the NBA has lost its luster because Kobe is out. Even other teams aren’t as interesting because Kobe’s not around. Of course I’ll always be a big Lakers fan, but if they don’t sharpen up in the next year or so, the brand will indeed suffer.

    • bb91103

I don’t remember the last time I used a pay phone.

  • Alex

As a laker fan you have to love nick. I really hope the team makes a move to keep him long term, we appreciate the optimism swaggy!

  • richard

As I have mentioned 3 weeks ago.. we are now officially a bad team… with the absence of our key players… the team just finds a way to lose every game… one game it is turnovers, another game it is lack of rebounding… another game, poor shooting, etc…. we are just finding ways to lose instead of finding ways to win.

    • Al Haldie

All teams at one point or another goes through this – we have a good mix of players that are trying too win but when your team has 15 players it is a lot better off then a team that only has 8 players that are not hurt, they are doing every thing they can and im proud of them….

      • richard

I understand that… that’s why I said, we have become a bad team with the injuries… my comment was not to put down the team but for every one to see that, really, the injuries to key players are just too big a hurdle to overcome . We are left with basically bench players and cast outs as our starting lineup.

  • Micah

It’s the head coaching and main office. D’Antoni needs to go with his players this offseason somewhere else. We should keep young, Gasol, Kobe, farmar, and hill. Hire George Karl and move on

  • lakers_824

Wiggens, Randle, Parker, Melo, Deng, Greg Monroe im excited for the offseason….nick young def needs to stay in LA

  • Al Haldie

Who do you think the real fans are “LAKERS NATION” great game last nite even tho you lost you played great as a team and % ways you were great–keep it togeather and play for the FANS and your teams respect—–thanks guys..

  • Boomer

I’m thinking deng, rondo,Monroe, and a nice pick will be good next year. Keep Pau kobe young Johnson Meeks.

    • Josh

Sorry, but David Stern has already instructed Adam Silva to not allow a fantasy draft this summer. The Lakers will not be able to sign whoever they feel like signing.

  • Gordo

Yeah thanks Nick Young for helping us lose since you ball hog lol ha ha ha.

    • Josh

I’ve never seen him pass the ball, but I guess he had a career high in assists against the Cavs.

  • Crenshaw on my shirt

Keep losing. The Lakers went 34-48 in 2004/2005 and got the 10th pick (Bynum). This season, they are on pace to win 28 to 30 games, so that would give us a great chance at a top 10 pick. With this deep draft class, that would be a step in the right direction. I would love to have Joel Embiid or Zach LaVine.
