Lakers News: Nick Young Says He’ll ‘Definitely’ Return This Season

Just when it looked like the Los Angeles Lakers were getting healthy and ready to attempt to get back on track this season, leading scorer Nick Young goes down with a knee injury.

Following an MRI, Young will miss at least two weeks, leaving the Lakers without their best scoring threat off the bench. Although there’s no telling how long Young will be out of commission, the 28-year-old is confident he’ll be back at some point this season according to Dave McMenamin of ESPN:

Before going down with the knee injury, Young was averaging a team-high 16.9 points per game this season. Although the signing of the Young was questionable in the off-season with many thinking he might do more harm than good on this team, the former USC standout has played extremely well off the bench and has quickly become a fan favorite in Los Angeles.

Along with Young being on the shelf for at least two weeks, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Jodie Meeks and Xavier Henry are also out with injuries leaving the Lakers with limited options in the backcourt once again.

Only time will tell if this injury riddled Lakers squad can bounce back in the second half of the season. At this point in time, it appears the team is already looking toward the future and rebuilding in the draft and through free agency.
