Lakers News: Nick Young Imagines Playing With A Younger Steve Nash

Following the loss to the Dallas Mavericks on Friday night, Nick Young talked to the media about his ankle injury and playing alongside Steve Nash. Young has loved his short time playing with Nash off the bench and wishes that he could’ve played with him in his prime according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

Young was told in the locker room that Nash was only a few assists shy of passing Mark Jackson on the NBA’s all-time assists list. Young responded, jokingly, that Nash should’ve gotten him the ball more then via Winters:

Before heading into the matchup with the Dallas Mavericks, Nash expected to play his last game of the season. The veteran point guard has been dealing with injury issues all season long and has played off and on over the last few weeks.

Fortunately, Nash will likely have another shot at passing Jackson this season. Head coach Mike D’Antoni made it clear that the two-time NBA MVP will probably play again before the season ends.

With Nash only being four assists behind Jackson, the veteran has a great shot of moving up to third on the all-time list before the season comes to a close. The Lakers only have six games left, and although Nash likely won’t play against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday, he may return against the Houston Rockets next week.
