Lakers News: Nick Minnerath Gets Invite To Lakers Training Camp

Nick-MinnerathThe Lakers have invited another wing to training camp, this time it’s little known Nick Minnerath out of University of Detroit. Minnerath is an undrafted prospect who played on the Sacramento Kings Summer League team averaging 5.6 points and 1.8 points in his five games.

While with the Titans of Detroit University, he averaged 14.6 and 5.9 rebounds while shooting 39 percent from behind the three point. While Minnerath’s shooting ability will surely raise some eyebrows, it was his athletic ability that got him the invite to camp. In a highlight clip provided by SLAM Online, Minnerath completed a series of dunks, alley-oops and showed an ability to get to the rim.

Minnerath is expected to join both Elias Harris and Marcus Landry in camp this year. Harris has a two-year deal with the Lakers and Landry has a small-guarantee which is widely considered to just be a camp invite to the team. Both Harris and Landry impressed on the Lakers summer league team and could be projects for the team moving forward.

It’s not expected that Minnerath makes the team, but it’s possible that he ends up on the Lakers D-League affiliate this season to refine his game. Regardless of what happens, Minnerath is excited and appreciative of the opportunity afforded to him by the Lakers.
