Lakers News: Metta World Peace To Return To LA With Knicks March 25

mettaIn only four short years, Metta World Peace became one of the most beloved Lakers in recent memory. He may have made some questionable decisions on the court, and some original and indecipherable statements, but you could always count on Metta to give 100 percent any time he was suited up.

When the Lakers decided to amnesty Metta this off-season, fans were not happy. Even Kobe Bryant spoke against the move as Metta was one of the people he trusted most on the roster.

The NBA released it’s schedule today and Metta World Peace will return to Staples Center on March 25, when his hometown New York Knicks take on the Lakers.

I’m sure Staples Center will give Metta the standing ovation he deserves. Who could ever forget his buzzer-beating putback to defeat the Phoenix Suns in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals? And, he was arguably the best player on the court in Game 7 of the NBA Finals against the Celtics.

Regardless of his antics, there is little doubt that Metta had a huge impact on the Lakers and the Los Angeles community and when he returns, Laker fans should, and will, give him the ovation he deserves.
