Magic is Not Joking Around

During the Lakers embarrassing loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, Magic Johnson had a few choice words for his former team. As you may have known, Johnson has been remarkably vocal when discussing his displeasure with the Lakers this season, whether on Twitter, during Los Angeles Dodgers press conferences, and on the ESPN NBA studio show.

Last night, Johnson dropped the most revealing bomb yet.

“It’s over for my Lakers. No playoffs, no nothing.”

That’s encouraging.

Honestly, it’s not Magic’s opinion that means a whole lot to the team right now, but when your former star player who essentially represents all things Lakers has given up, that’s not a remarkably uplifting sign.

Last night it was very evident that the Thunder was the superior team, and if the Lakers want to reach the playoffs they face an enormous uphill battle.

To make matters worse, the team found out on Friday that they will be without reserve big man Jordan Hill for the rest of the season.

Magic is a smart dude. He is just showing his frustration. Once the Lakers, if they do get it together, life will be good for a lot of us.

At this rate, no they will not make the playoffs. Magic loves this team and is just being honest. This season has been a nightmare so far and it’s gonna take a miracle to turn things around. Regardless of everything, I refuse to root for any other team. LAKERS forever.

I mean, we all knew that D’Antonis system does not fit this roster, right? We knew it from the first day… Run and gun with an old boys team? Come on…. Good,old-fashioned, halfcourt basketball please, with zone defense to stop penetration. Like the mavs did 2 years ago. They were not young and athletic, but smart (better and coached).

“Last night it was very evident that the Thunder was the superior team”… Uh? I’m not saying the Lakers *are* better *with* all their players or that they would have won if they had them, but to not have Dwight, Pau, and Jordan Hill, is just… hardly seems like the appropriate occasion to gauge an accurate comparison with any team let alone a top team in West. What’s the point? OKC players combined have missed literally 0 games.

The Lakers had Robert Sacre fresh from the D-League and Earl Clark in basically his 2nd game for christ’s sake. With no back-up big. Not sure what anyone was expecting going into that game last night, but clearly the expectations weren’t reasonable. Yeah getting Dwight Howard helps their chances against top teams like the Thunder, but if he doesn’t play, and then you take Pau out, and then you take Hill out, I mean… ?

The Lakers are not a deep team, you take away two starters and it’s a problem. You take away *their* back-up and the most important bench guy on an already-thin bench and you got more problems. And the last time they played OKC, Nash & Pau didn’t play. I’m not making excuses for all the other things LAL players have done miserably, like basic defense, and you know, effort in general, but they’ve been absolutely mauled with injuries. It’s almost Marx Brothers comical. They lost their entire point guard back court in Nash & Blake and then their entire front court in Dwight, Pau and Hill in the span of two months. Plus Pau another time for 10 games in between. Pau’s already had three different injuries AND a concussion and we’re over a month away from All Star Break. It’s unreal.

Magic needs to shut up and be a supporter. No other former Laker talks like him.

Feels more like encouragement than disencouragement.

Magic is frustrated for sure as are the rest of us. I think Magic, Worthly, Karreem, ant etc should get out to El Segundo and work with the guys, and jutst give them pep talks or something. I know if I was playing and those guys showed up I would be feeling inspired. BTW
    WE WANT PHIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
GET RID OF JIMMY B !

      Stop being a hater gator!

Every team Brown has ever been fired from has done terrbile since he left… just saying. Haha in all seriousness though, I find it highly unlikely that this season can still be turned around.. I’ve seen crazier before though.

Why kick the team down when in doubt we will come back and shout it out! Have “FAITH” Lakers will turn it around.
