With eight games in the season, the attention turns to the 2014 NBA Draft Lottery for the Los Angeles Lakers as every win and loss will affect their draft position.

As of right now, the Lakers would have the best chance to land the sixth pick in the upcoming 2014 NBA Draft. If the Lakers lose to the division rival Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, that sixth pick or higher might become a lock for the Lakers according to Eric Pincus of the L.A. Times:

The chance of the Lakers landing a top three pick with the sixth best odds, in terms of percentage, is 21.5. The team’s chance of landing a pick in the top three drops considerably to 15 percent if they lose that positioning according to Pincus:

Obviously, a lot can change in the final eight games of the season. The Lakers will have a tough road ahead to finish the season facing six teams that are potentially bound for the playoffs.

Following the matchup against the Kings on Wednesday, the Lakers will face the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors, Memphis Grizzlies, Utah Jazz and San Antonio Spurs.

The matchup against the Jazz may also have draft lottery implications in terms of positioning.

Unless the NBA rigs the lottery or Exum forces his way to LA it’s not looking too good.

    • Kobe bryant

you are so hype on exum have u seen him play all games?? sshh exum is more like russel westbrook, i’d rather lakers draft wiggins than exum..

      • TheTruthKills

Wiggins is going number one (hence my joke about rigging the lottery). Exum has been rumored to be angling his way here. Just going off what I’ve read.

  • Tanking For Wiggins

The Lakers are clearly tanking and i can point out exactly how i know well just look at the game last night.Coach Mike Pringles D’Antoni plays Steve Nash then Nash sits out the 4th quarter dude to injury yea right okay next up guess who gets a DNP Jordan Hill the same guy that has been having monster games lately and then to top it off the player that was key in beating the Blazers in Portland Wes Johnson gets his first DNP CD of the season wow and MarShon Brooks and Farmar never sniff the floor anymore in the case of Farmar i understand he is injured sure.

But now Pincus says this crap in his tweets lol they are clearly tanking and Pincus knows it as do the rest of us.All these old fashion fans from the Chick Hearn and Vin Scully era need to just admit it the Lakers are tanking and quit hating on the pro tankers it’s just the truth,Lakers are in full tank mode and have been for a long time now duh.Just embrace the direction of the franchise this is tanking at it’s finest. No team is above tanking and the Lakers just proved that this season.

    • comrade24

The sad thing is i don’t think D’Antoni’s intending to tank, he’s just that bad.

Vin Scully is a Dodgers announcer, not a Lakers announcer.

  • Tanking For Wiggins

Lakers players will just get a bonus pay check for tanking lol.Gotta love it lol.

Outside of the top 5 I think they should trade down maybe they can acquire 2 picks, from maybe phoenix, and either trade for k love or pick Zach lavine and Cleanthony Early later in the draft

    • comrade24

no way if we’re not top 5 we’ll have ANY chance of trading the pick for Love. it’s doubtful we’d be able to even if we had the pick. I do think Kevin Love will end up a Laker in the next year or so, depending on how the FO handles this summer and next season.

      • KG

So why trade our lottery pick for Love when we can pick him up in free agency??

      • Joe B

I suppose you forgot to read the part about trading down for 2 players instead of the players in that 6-10 range who seem to be mediocre at best

  • lakerfan

What happens if the Lakers win most of the games left?? They get a 7-10 pick?? Would Wolves Trade love for a 6-10 Pick? Will the Lakers Keep Shitony? Will they get any good FA’s this summer??

    • comrade24

      Shitoni… i like it lol

  • jeff

They better loose this game tonight or there tied with Sac for the lottery.pick.

  • guil

I think in this game of Lakers vs Kings, the result will be tied to ZERO… :)) Coz nobody like to shoot hehehe

  • branden

We never had a chance at top 3 pick with magic bucks and 76ers having worst records

The guessing will really come out after the ping pong balls come to a stop.
