Lakers News: Los Angeles Falls To No. 7 Pick In NBA Draft Lottery

Share on FacebookTweet about this on Twitter

Ever since the Laker season ended last month, one of the main focuses has been the upcoming NBA Draft. After Tuesday’s NBA Draft Lottery, the complete draft order is now set.

Following the results, the Lakers will be selecting with the number seven overall pick.

Despite finishing with the sixth worst record over the past season, other teams jumped the Lakers to push them down. Coming into the night, the Lakers had a 21.5 percent chance of moving up while having a 34.5 percent chance of ending up with their pick.

Although the Lakers fell, there are a variety of options available for the Lakers. General manager Mitch Kupchak revealed the team is open to trading the pick for the right price. Should the Lakers stay put, they can look to fill one of their roster spots with a young prospect.

As it stands, the Lakers have a need at essentially all positions and could benefit from selecting someone from the draft. According to the MyNBADraft’s last mock draft before the lottery results, Arizona’s Aaron Gordon and Kentucky’s Julius Randle could be viable options when the Lakers are on the clock.

Now that the Lakers know where they are drafting, the search for a head coach is expected to pick up. The team has a better idea how they want to assemble the roster and can begin making better pitches to potential candidates. Whether the new coach will have some input with the draft pick remains to be seen.

Damn Celtics at 6 Lakers at 7th

AND THE CAVS AT TOP 3? WTF

    • Gibi

Right. Cavs need to be left out, they’re there every year and never get better.

      • Jim213

At least we have a better sense of who’ll be coaching next season as B Scott would likely get the nod now (not a bad thing) tho odds would improve in acquiring K Irving possibly down the road. As if that took place good luck to the Cavs.

Lebron won’t head to Cleveland and wait 3-4 years to start contending there when he’s in the pinnacle of his prime (inexperience just like last time). Once that is gone it’s down hill from there.

    • lakers_824

Cavs again!!!!!……its all setup for lebron

      • AntRodrigues

This is not fixed… Cavs have just been lucky in the draft… but it has not ended well for them regardless of who they have picked in the past.

      • http://www.foxhilldesign.com Josh

The NBA is 1000 times more interesting with Lebron in Miami. He will never ever ever ever even consider going back to Cleveland. Besides, the Cavs will probably botch the pick and take Rodney Hood or something.

        • lakers_824

          PG irving
          SG waiters
          SF lebron
          PF thompson
          C embiid
          6th man bennet

just think bout it lebron gets stacked team as his team now is decining

          • http://www.foxhilldesign.com Josh

I don’t talk to Lebron as much as I used to…but I’m pretty sure he has ZERO interest in playing with a “stacked” team that has never played a game in May. He’s trying to become one of the most legendary players of all-time and wants to win “not one, not two, not three…” Don’t count on him going anywhere where he will have to help a team grow to get to the Finals in a few years. Are you sure the Heat are “declining?” It seems to me they are three wins away from reaching their fourth consecutive NBA Finals appearance.

    • Rigging For Wiggins

Cavs cheated and the NBA helped cheat SMFH!

      • AntRodrigues

How did the Cavs and the NBA cheat? It’s better for the NBA overall if the Celtics and the Lakers get back to the great franchises they were in the past.

    • Lakers Scout

Best players ever drafted at #7 in the NBA Draft are the following notable players.Lakers can make a great choice and draft Marcus Smart.

1987 Kevin Johnson All Time Great Point Guard

      1985 Chris Mullin HOF

1995 Damon Stoudamire Rookie Of The Year

1999 Richard Hamilton Great off the ball scorer and major scorer on championship team.

2002 Maybyner “Nene” Hilario Good big man and good player on a playoffs team.

2004 Luol Deng All Star And A Great Player That Plays Great Defense.

2008 Eric Gordon Injuries messed him up otherwise he would have been elite.

2009 Stephen Curry All Star One Of The Best Players At His Position Great Shooter

2010 Greg Monroe Excellent Big Man And He Will Get Much Better.

2012 Harrison Barnes Huge Upside And He Has Played Good In Big Games.

2013 Ben McLemlore Huge Upside As A Shooter And He Is Very Young Will Be Excellent.

    • tam

Lakers front office sucks ass. Lakers should have lost the last 2 games of the season. Nick young ducked the lakers over for being selfish and scoring 40 points the last gsme

      • Chris Park

As much as I agree that losing those games would’ve given us a top 4~5 pick its time to move on

      • AntRodrigues

Lakers never throw games no matter what and any true Lakers fan should understand that. I’m not saying your not a Lakers fan but you must not understand the Lakers and the possible thought of actually throwing games…

        • Nalin Shukla

Your completely right! Lakers never throw away games I’m proud of the 27-55 record as a lakers fan I’m willing to accept that this our team now..not the championship caliber teams from before…that’s what makes me a true lakers fan…gtfo with nonsense you clipper sterling racist

          • AntRodrigues

lol I’m confused as HELL by your post are you agreeing with me and calling Tam a Clipper Sterling racist?…..

  • L.A BU11Y

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO 7?? WTF

  • jeremy

not happy we got 7th but they can still get a good talent

  • 3339

    Lucky 7

    • Jim213

Agree, expected 6th or 7th. Time to forget about the so called top 5 prospects. The chess game begins now.

      • 3339

I really think Zach LaVine will be the pick. He has impressed people and is a UCLA kid that people think could be the next Westbrook.

      • Lakers Fan

If they draft Smart or Vonleh somehow falls to us, i wouldnt mind.

        • VillainKing

Smart or Gordon its ok for me because they both play defense!!

          • BULL

SMART might be too big and slow to keep up with CP3, Westbrook or Parker

          • VillainKing

MARCUS SMART show his speed in the draft combine and it is very impressive he prove that he can guard quicker guards..

      • comrade24

no kidding. Just keeps getting more dissapointing. I think they should pick Marcus Smart but i’m sure they’ll make a bust pick like Vonleh or Randle. smh

  • TheTruthKills

Cavs now have three of the last four number one picks, and five top five picks since LeBron left. Unbelievable.

  • JohnSmith00

I can finally vent. Where could we have draft…. 4th, I hope those wins that so you stupid piece of shit pro-winning c#nts clamored for. PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE PRIDE!! well this is where we end up…. 7th, FML.

    • LAL

      It’s called Daryl Peeks – the pro-winning c#nts

      • Jim213

Nope, #rolled with whatever this season. But the lottery seems to favor the Cavs as of late. Best if the NBA penalized teams who make a habit of sucking year after year. This is why the Easter Conference sucks mostly b/c these lame teams don’t have pride in their franchise. Lesser lottery balls for the teams that keep stinking with repeated bad records. FA will dictate the Lakers fortunes next season.

        • LAL

Fortune with FAs? That’s not going to happen either. At most, the Lakers going to land only ONE top agent because of Kobe’s contract. And with the leftover money will be for the role/bench players which would be peanuts. There’s no good players going to come to the Lakers for peanuts.

Even Nick Young wants to leave after realizing that money is more important especially with a team that only rewarding one player and screw the rest. Why do you think the players want to come play for the Lakers? Repeat after me, MONEY!

With injury-prone Kobe + another top agent + below average role/bench players = 0 championship!

The Lakers should have just lost the remaining 10 games and yet because of the so-called “pride”, they’re not going to land a future franchise player. Had they finish worst 4th team, they might have a chance to land Dante Exum. Now, they might not even get Marcus Smart (Celtics might draft him in case Rondo left).

          • LakersHeatBeef

Yeah i predict the Celtics will trade Rajon Rondo and they love Marcus Smart at #6 Danny Ainge will happily draft his tough guy with mad skills Marcus Smart.Ainge said nice things about Marcus Smart lately.

          • Jim213

No $10 mil or higher players should be signed this off season (no Deng) unless it’s Lebron (doubtful) came into the picture. Don’t matter if 2 star players are signed in the off season of 2015 ($30 mil total?) b/c Kobe’s contract expires at the end of 2015-2016 season.

This is why if Pau doesn’t want to accept an $8-9 mil salary he should go elsewhere tho it’d be best to ship him out via sign and trade. Defense has to be the priority that goes along with acquiring reliable players not resigning most of this last season’s players b/c at best they’re bench players. It’ll work out but the it’ll start to take more shape until 2015.

      • Daryl Peek

Why do you have my name in your mouf? SMH

Anyway, the Lakers don’t EVER tank. that’s all.

    • kookiebuger

      Agreed.

    • Chris Park

      Although I can’t lie would’ve having top 4 pick would’ve been amazing

this draft class is so stacked that I won’t be surprised if anyone in top 15 could become the next superstar just gotta find the diamond in the pile

      • LAL

The problem is we have Jimbo at helm. Most likely he will draft a dud like Noah Vonleh (low IQ player).

    • Derrick Lee

Not the end of the world . Dude this yr draft is strong. Any of the top three picks can become a superstar or a bust. A 7th pick in this year’s draft could still become a superstar but chances are slimmer, however there’s still a great chance to great role player, or side kick.

      • Jim213

Top talent that has been drafted 7th and beyond include: Paul George
(drafted 7th), Damian Lillard (drafted 7th), Robert Horry (drafted
11th), Paul Pierce (drafted 10th), Dirk Nowitzki (drafted 9th), and Kobe Bryant (drafted 13th) to name a few. This is a deep 1st rnd.

        • Lakers Rebuilding

lillard was drafted 6th actually but I see what you mean lakers need to draft either smart or vonleh both are very good players and can be future building blocks for the lakers

          • Jim213

            TY

  • jeremy

aaron gordon anyone? and lame cavs got number one

    • cyborgspider

Maybe Marcus Smart. Good consolation prize

    • Lakers Fan

Not gordon. Id rather they take smart. We need a defensive minded point guard for the future. I dont think we will get Lowry. He wants to stay in toronto. So we need Smart now.

  • urrrrr

    this shit is rigged yo

    • Derrick Lee

Fans of other teams would say it was rigged if Lakers or Celtics got top 3. Lakers fell to where they Haas the highest percentage. 6th or 7th.

      • kookiebuger

But that would have been the 1st time the Lakers get the #1 pick in over 20 years. The Cavs won #1 last year getting their 3rd #1 pick in 4 years and their 6th #1 pick in franchise history the same year LeBron James just so happens to be a free agent.

        • http://www.foxhilldesign.com Josh

What do you think the NBA has to gain by giving #1 picks to the Cavs? The Cavs clearly don’t know what they’re doing with all those high picks. Give it to the Knicks if you want a team that needs the assistance and can benefit the league as a whole.

  • LAV

    WTF

  • VillainKing

    What the Fuck cleveland again!!!

  • VillainKing

Marcus Smart or Aaron Gordon 7th pick…

    • http://WWW.LakersNation.com Kïd Špłãšh

      Exactlly WhT I Said!

    • Elcid Martinez

      Aaron!

      • kookiebuger

Smart, Gordon is a huge risk he doesn’t even have a position (tweener).

        • http://www.foxhilldesign.com Josh

Have you learned nothing from the Miami Heat? Position doesn’t matter if you can play.

  • RebelX

how much dick the cavs been sucking this is rediculous 3 times in four years wtf

    • http://instagram.com/allgxld GodlyRebel

/ lol next thing you know lebron goes back :/ definitely rigged

      • mcastleton928

Damn straight it is rigged. This is coming from a Utah Jazz fan. After all, you know, it really hurt Cleveland and its fans when they lost LeBron. So, after all, they just had to get the #1 pick in the draft the next year to make up for it. But it still didn’t help them. The next year, New Orleans was about to lose the Hornets/Pelicans, so, they just had to give them something to rally around to keep the franchise there. Result: Anthony Davis with the #1 pick. Back to the Cavs, they still weren’t winning even with a #1 pick on their team. So, two years later, they got the #1 pick again, and totally screwed up (WTF? Anthony Bennett? Really?). So, after all, in the deepest draft in ten years, the NBA just had to give Cleveland a “mulligan” so they could make up for losing LeBron. Seriously. What a corrupt bunch of bastards the NBA is.

  • Deone

I will say this the Bucks daughter is freakn hottttttt…I’ll take that number 1 over all.

  • BrownMamba24

Damn rigged. Nba did this so they can get a future star and then they can bring back Lebron. And they can do “the decision” part 2. Fuck it. I’m done. I’m not even mad about our pick

    • cyborgspider

Right. If the Jazz, Celts, even the Wolves or Suns got #1, oh well. BUT THE FUCKING CAVS? AGAIN? Where’s the justice?

  • LAV

This thing needs an investigation. Tha fuck.

  • MohamedLakersFan

DAMN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get no.7 and the shitty bastards called Cavs get the 1st pick for the second year in a row and 5 lottery picks in the last 4 seasons????????????? WTF is happening in the NBA???? And yet the Cavs will still suck. I feel sorry for Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins or anyone who will be no.1 pick this year.

    • TheTruthKills

Kyrie, Waiters, Bennett, Thompson, Embiid. How can the Cavs screw this up? We know they will, but how?

      • MohamedLakersFan

They will screw it and I hope that next season becomes another lost season for them so Irving can leave them and come join us.

      • Jim213

By acquiring Embiid as doubt the 76ers or Bucks will keep their 1st rounder for the long term. Have to play the waiting game 4-5 years from now but Dante Exum will be drafted by the Magic.

      • They call me Pringles

They can screw it up again if they hire Mike Pringles. That’s me! =D

  • BrownMamba24

Damn rigged. Nba did this so they can get a future star and then they can bring back Lebron. And they can do “the decision” part 2.
I’m done. I’m not even mad about our pick

  • Badazztj12

Might as well trade the pick for kevin love and if he does leave there will still be talent in 2015 FA

    • vdogg

      why would MIN do that?

      • Tyrone Von Gilyard

We add pieces. Gasol gone have to go in a sign and trade with that pic. Grab him monroe and deng keep marshall and young and we can make a lil noise not that much but alot more than this year.

        • Zimmeredge

          stop playing the trade machine…

        • TheTruthKills

Dude its over. Strap in for this 4-5 year rebuild.

          • Tyrone Von Gilyard

I know its over. Im just saying we gone do better than last year. As long as we dont mirror that im good. Im just being optimistic. Kup has pulled some whodini shit in the past..lol

    • Zimmeredge

you can’t trade a number 7 for Love. for real people stop being delusionnal.

    • TheTruthKills

#7 overall isn’t enough. Minn would laugh and then hang up the phone.

      • Badazztj12

well hell we cant trade with cavs now for irving, what now?

        • TheTruthKills

          A long and painful rebuild.

          • Badazztj12

I just cant do it man. Last year was painful enough

          • TheTruthKills

Through thick and thin. That’s the number one rule for being a fan. It’s going to be tough, but we’ll get back to the top eventually.

          • Badazztj12

hell I know that but am saying its gonna be hard to watch games and being excited to know a laker game is almost on

          • comrade24

We can still form a decent team this season.

            PG- Smart
            SG- Kobe
            SF- Deng/Ariza
            PF- Hill
            C- Gortat

great defensive lineup that shouldn’t have any problems scoring. Hire the right coach, lock down on D and should make the playoffs and be in position to acquire a FA in offseason

          • Badazztj12

ill rather take Noah, next year can be his development year. He is already a hard worker

    • comrade24

need to give up on this dream. not happening. best we can hope for now is getting him at the trade deadline (unlikely) or in FA next summer

  • http://WWW.LakersNation.com Kïd Špłãšh

Fuck The 7th Pick! EveryBody Will Be Gone When Its Our Turn! Take Aaron Or Smart

    • VillainKing

yeah Smart or Gordon….!!! Fuck the CAVS and the NBA…

    • Elcid Martinez

Aaron or vonleh. I’m not sold on smart.. Am I wrong?

      • comrade24

I’ve seen him play in person many times. He’s a defensive workhorse. Would love to see him bodying up on Cp3 and other elite point guards. Going to be an all star someday, hopefully on the Lakers

    • marlou anthony lorica

agree,Aaron or Smart played good defends and can contribute point in many ways.

      • marlou anthony lorica

        If smart is the pick.1st 5 will be: smart,bryant,ariza,gazol and Monroe.If Godon is the pick.1st 5 will be; Bledsoe,bryant,ariza,Gordon and Gazol.Reserve are:farmar,nash,meeks,young.bazemore,monroe,hill,sacre,kelly

    irving-lebron james-embiid 2014

cleveland cavaliers NBA champions 2015 and they will have always the pick numer 1…ahahahah

    • LAstory

Kyrie isn’t staying, lol….. Lebron and Embiid but Kyrie is not staying, lol…

  • LakersHeatBeef

We waited all year for this shit and it turns out to be pick #7 and then Cleveland with 1.7% chance wins the #1 pick yet again conspiracy theory the NBA rigged this for the Cavs 3 out of the last 4 years.Fuck you NBA and this is terrible for the NBA!Let me guess LeBron James is on his way back to the Cavs.Oh great bitches.

    • VillainKing

Agreed of you buddy FUCK THE NBA AND THE CAVS..HOPE THIS CAVS TEAM WILL STRUGGLE SO MUCH NEXT SEASON!!!!!

      • LakersHeatBeef

Yeah man the Cavs and the NBA can go to hell for all i care!I am beyond pissed off and sad right now more pissed off though.Let me explain i had Marcus Smart as the #1 prospect the day of the combine but like a day later Andrew Wiggins comes up with the highest jump i have ever seen so i was like 44 inch vertical damn that’s insane lets get him at #1 but now i am just pissed at the Cavs and the NBA.I love Marcus Smart for the Lakers but i have a feeling Boston will draft Marcus Smart a pick ahead of us.Danny Ainge is fond of Smart according to his interview.DAMN IT NBA REALLY?Rigging for Wiggins was never more true today.

    • A Fan

On the plus side, the only team ahead of LA who might draft a Point Guard is Orlando. Cavs have Kyrie, MIL has Brandon Knight, Philly has MCW, Boston has Rondo, and Utah has Trey Burke. So I still think we’ll be able to land either Dante Exum or Marcus Smart

      • LakersHeatBeef

That would be great and ideal if Marcus Smart or Dante Exum are available to us in the draft at pick #7.Cavs No PG Bucks No PG Philly No PG Celtics Scare me they love Marcus Smart and might trade Rajon Rondo that’s the rumor he might be traded Jazz Might just draft Noah Vonleh and use him as a new Karl Malone type Lakers would draft Marcus Smart or Dante Exum whichever might drop to us at #7.I have Marcus Smart rated as the top player in the NBA Draft but i also knew the Lakers would have drafted Andrew Wiggins at #1 and he probably is the best long term prospect in this draft but most NBA ready player IMO is Marcus Smart.

  • vdogg

maybe exum can force his way here…

    • LAstory

He absolutely could… I had a feeling that we would land the 6 or 7th spot… and Zach Levine could be the pick here… he has exactly Dante’s game they both can run the 1 or the 2….

      • Elcid Martinez

Honestly, Lavine had just as much skill as the top picks

        • LAstory

Exactly, watching the NBA combine the scouts have him grade just as high if not higher than Exum.

          • Jim213

Now expected to go between 10th-15th as opposed to a late 1st rounder. But the Love rumors may/will have to wait until next year’s trade deadline.

          • LAstory

On the big board yes in that 10-15, but as far as guards go he is in the top 3/4 per Chad Ford… last time I checked.

          • Jim213

Yes, IMO better than the first two but he’s projected to land there tho some have him going to the Nuggs.

          • LAstory

Wow, this is going to be an interesting draft!

  • orpheusdagawd

    Just fucking wow.

  • Veix

    cavs winning is ridiculous

  • http://WWW.LakersNation.com Kïd Špłãšh

Cleveand #1 Again? Rigged It Is!!!

  • Zimmeredge

it’s not the best pick but it’s a good one tho. stop whinning. very good pick. except parker, wiggins the other nba ready players are after top 5. Vonleh, Gordon, Smart, Ennis, McD, Saric are very good talented and gifted players. you can build around them

    • LAstory

Zach Levine will be the perfect fit….

      • Zimmeredge

zach lavine is also a great guy, talented, lot of assets but… can he play off the ball? he struggled all season to find his spot around other players.

        • LAstory

Yes he can but still needs to work on his lateral speed and they (scouts) say he needs about 10lbs of muscle… at UCLA they said he played out of position due to smaller pg on the roaster… but he wants to play pg but can play the 2… he also was faster, higher vert, than Dante Exum…

          • Zimmeredge

he is meant to be a tweener anyway like RW. frankly, it’s probably to have a 7 than to have a 4-5 pick. we have a lot of players to scout now and I said all those guys went under radar because of parker/embiid/wiggins/exum but they might be better player.
if we keep gasol. Gordon and Vonleh could be great partners. Saric is a great stretch 4 will A LOT of skills.
Smart, Lavine are great tweener they could help us on pg and sg. And Ennis is probably one of the best pure pg alongside Napier and Payton.

          • LAstory

Yes they could, the only thing with Ennis that worried me a bit was he measured out barley 6’0 … but between he and Napier (he’s 5’11) but two of the purest pg…

          • Zimmeredge

because Stepheson will be available i’ll go after a big man.

  • 3339

NBA draft is so unpredictable. you can only hope that our scouts have done their homework on these guys. I mean recently Lillard got drafted 6th. Steph Curry went 7th(!!!!)Paul George went 10th.

WOW i am just pissed and sad at the same time. Not too crazy about seeing the Cavs getting the #1 pick yet again it’s rigged to the fullest.Cleveland is a rebuilding sports town first the Browns got Johnny Football now the Cavs are set to get Andrew Wiggins and possibly the return of the king of diapers LeBron.

  • Mally Smalls

I’m OK with our pick because whoever we get is gonna get a Kobe mentality smart,Gordon,Randall, or the center from Indiana

  • VillainKing

I will go for Smart or Gordon in having the 7th pick..

  • J24

Ok people, lets take a breather and take this in a positive way. You still have Marcus Smart, Zach Lavine, Dario Saric, and other players that I’m sure are just waiting to prove everyone that they belong amongst the top 3 too. You’ll see… Klay Thompson 11th, Michael Carter-Williams, Giannis Antetokounmpo 15th, Kobe selected 13th, Manu Ginobili (2nd round) 57th…. You’ll see, just have patience, Lakers will be back on top! LA Lakers 4ever!

    • Badazztj12

ill rather just take Tyler E

    • LAstory

Marcus will be a Celtic, it will be Zach…

    • L.A BU11Y

ILL TAKE SMART BUT DEF HOPE THAT ARIZONA BOY AVAILABLE GORDON

  • Veix

Despite the cavs jinx, all is good. This years pick 7 is worth every other year top3 pick and I am sure the Lakers are going to acquire a future all star calibre player out of it. #deeeeeep #draft

  • http://instagram.com/allgxld GodlyRebel

    what a fucking team
    Kyrie Irving
    Dion Waiters
    Lebron James
    Anthony Bennett
    Joel Embiid
whose joining the Cleveland Bandwagon ?

    • 3339

give the ball to whoever bennett’s guarding lol

    • TheTruthKills

The Heat bandwagon will have a seamless switch. They can just go dig up their old Cavs gear and act like they never left.

    • L.A BU11Y

NOT ME LAKERS FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!! PHUCK NBA! AND ASSTONI

    • Zimmeredge

      tristan thompson ;)

  • Shit

NBA needs to make a rule that if you get the number 1 pick last year you can’t be in the top 3 the next year smh!

    • VillainKing

      that’s a very great rule..Fuck the cavs!!!!

      • Laker4life

FUCK THE NBA! & FUCK THE CAVS. THIS IS A CONSPIRACY THEORY.

  • cyborgspider

This is a bad dream… wish I could wake up from it.

Lakers being seventh, I’m okay with. But having Cleveland #1 is a punch to my gut from Wolverine, claws extended. Unbelievable.

  • kookiebuger

So I just read the Kings made their pick available for veteran experience, the Lakers should try to get in on this and trade that 2014 8th pick for a 2015 1st round pick.

    • Zimmeredge

we’ve already trade the 2015 pick. out of 5 it goes to another franchise.

      • kookiebuger

Well the Lakers 2015 1st round pick is top 5 protected but I mean the Lakers trade for the Kings 8th pick in this years draft and try to trade it away for a lottery pick in next years draft, it’s going to be a good draft not as great as this years projected to be but still good.

        • Zimmeredge

loaded on the f/c position cliff and jahlil are big boys.

  • Eazy

Perhaps we can convince Putin to nuke Cleveland ?!

  • Lakers Fan

Why are the Cavs constantly getting the number 1 pick?? Thats 3 in the last 4 years! I can bet they are trying to lure lebron back to cleveland. This is bull****. Oh well. Im hearing the Lakers like a couple of the players who will be available past pick 5. I think they will draft Smart though, even though thats not a bad pick. He was my second best point guard behind Exum if we didnt get him. If we draft Smart, i wouldnt be mad we fell to 7.

    • LAstory

Orlando will draft Exum, and Boston will get Marcus, especially with Rondo on the block… no worries though bro.. I’m telling you Zach’s names going to start being brought up…this guy can run the point!!

      • LakersHeatBeef

I am going to say yes draft Zach Lavine if Marcus Smart is drafted by the evil Celtics.I am going crazy right now lets just get Zach Lavine i am a huge UCLA fan and he can become a superstar in the right system and team.Marcus Smart and Dante Exum are the top on my list but Lavine is my guy if they are gone yeap.

        • LAstory

          I feel the same way…

  • Matt Williams

This is why I’m not cool with tanking!!!!! The fucking NBA rigged it do we couldn’t get a high draft pick. Fuck Cleveland!!!

  • L.A BU11Y

SEND THIS PIC TO WOLVES SEE IF THEY WILL TAKE IT FOR LOVE PIC UP DENG, RESIGN GASOL, HILL, KELLY, FAMRAR, YOUNG, HOPE FOR THE BEST!

  • Badazztj12

Our pick and nash (free cap space) for love?

  • independentbynature

There must be some serious butt kissing going on in Cleveland.Three number ones in four years? Are you serious?A 1.7% chance and they get the 1st pick?Bill Simmons was right for the 1st time in his life. The worst managed team in the NBA since they lost LeBron and they keep getting rewarded for it.Disgusting…..

    • Badazztj12

Not saying bron is overrated but are they trying to get bron up there with talking between kobe and Jordan?

    • 3339

It wouldn’t upset me so much if Gilbert didn’t bitch so much about us trading for CP3

    • TheTruthKills

Three number one picks in fours years. A total of five top five picks since LeBron left. They’re practically being rewarded for being poorly managed.

    • Lakers Fan

Its ridiculous. 3 number 1s in last 4 years?! And yet they still end up a terrible team. I knew it was a long shot we would get number 1,but never did i think cleveland would win the lottery.

    • Sylvia Ross

I didn’t want to be the only person who felt that way. This is really amazing how they’re always getting the number one pick. It’s one of those things that make you go hummmmmmmm”””

      • independentbynature

Ya know,I didn’t really expect to move up,but this was ridiculous. For a team behind us with a fourth of the chance the Lakers had,to get the top pick, when they won it last year, too, and 3 of the last 4.Very disappointing. There really are only 4 potential game changers in this draft.None of them will be a Laker. And a team that didn’t deserve it,got it.The system is flawed…..I hate Cleveland and Dan Gilbert.Everyone should boycott Quicken Loans……..

  • VillainKing

its ok for me that the lakers land 7th pick we can pick great talents like Smart, Gordon and Lavine..

  • hoperhetoric

Its rigged! Dan gilbert co veto the cp3 trade! Purposely selected bennet because they know they will get the #1 again nextyr w/loaded talents.

The league conspires because they will create a new rivalry of cavs & lebron!

Swaggy p should be hated if he doesnt resign w/the lakers for less money because his so happy smile beating the Jazz whose purposely trying to lose that night!!!! We should had the #4 pick it not for that win against jazz!

  • vdogg

screw this shit! forget the safe pick now.. IT’S TIME TO GO FOR IT! zach levine is the pick. the kid showed out at the combine. let’s take a risk! who’s with me???

    • 3339

thinking about it I’m all for that. He’s a big PG (same size as exum) and a freak athlete. Like another UCLA PG that plays for OKC and dresses like a clown sometimes.

    • LAstory

I’m with you brother… Zach outshot, outran, jumped higher than Exum did AND Exum was GREAT and Zach still put up better numbers and he is slightly taller than Exum…. I watched every minute of them working out! and Zach immediately jump of the screen and the crazy thing was Mitch was writing something down every time Zach took stage, it may not mean anything but… Mitch may have saw something.

      • vdogg

love your info, bud. i hope lavine is the pick.. my only worry is that he is TOO impressive when he works out for other teams. the last thing i want is for him to go top 5.

        • LAstory

Yes, funny you say that because some of the scouts were rating him (Zach) in the top 5/6/7 and Randle actually drop on Chad Ford’s big board to 8/9…

          • vdogg

that wouldn’t be good. i personally don’t want randle. i want lavine or exum. both of those guys are unknowns.. but lavine is a better shooter, has played in LA and you just know the fans would love him.

  • ra

None of this draft class are players that are considered ‘superstars’. Not even sure if there are any ‘all-stars’. So again, the pick doesn’t really matter.

The Lakers aren’t going to build around the draft.

Here’s the plan for the future: let the Sterling debacle play out – existing players sue to terminate their contracts and opt out of playing for the Clips. CP3 and maybe Griffin come to the Lakers free and clear, with no ‘cap’ issues (i.e., the league accommodates the players and teams by allowing this). I.e., players get to choose their team, and can go there without any contract issues.

Doc Rivers quits Clips and comes to the Lakers, so we have our coach.

Then, we can build around that. Kobe’s already here. Re-sign Pau. We get a Championship.

    • vdogg

      dreaming.. dreaming is FREE.

    • LAV

DOC RIVERS? Are you out of your mind? Ur not a lakers Fan.

  • saythereal

And like i said before this is why Mitch Kupchack wanted to trade the pick in the first place though i didn’t think we would get 7 but like iv’e said on recent post now everybody like get Love don’t trade the pick my name is saythereal i knew this, Love is 25 and could be the future of the franchise and already developed

    • kookiebuger

The Lakers need young talented players who can be the face of the franchise and attract players. Love clearly can’t lead a team so getting a young talented player, a veteran winner (Kobe), Love, and a key free agent here and their and the Lakers are in good hands.

    • TheTruthKills

The only thing is that our pick isn’t enough. It never was enough. We don’t have the assets to trade for Love. We never did. Everybody was just dreaming big out of desperation.

      • saythereal

So what assets did we have when we traded for Byron Scott in “84″

        Wilt Chamberlin ” 1968 ”

        Pau Gasol ” 2008 ”

        Kareem Abdul Jabar ” 1975″

        Vlade Divac for Kobe ” 1996 “

        • TheTruthKills

So what do you suggest? Our first round pick and Sacre? That’s going to look really good up against the bulls offer (Gibson, Mirotic, and two first round picks), the Celtics offer (Bass, Green, Sullinger, and a first), the Suns offer (Dragic, Frye, Morris, and two firsts), and the Warriors offer (Barnes, Green, Lee, and a first).

Oh yeah. Our offer looks waaaay better than the rest….

          • saythereal

Man we are the lakers, you see our track record the business is all about taking risk and thats some thing the lakers are known for and for the most part being successful we have pull some of the most craziest trades and we will soon watch what i tell you soon as you blink watch how the lakers will be the talk of town.

          • kookiebuger

You need something the only worthwhile asset on the team is the pick nobody wants Nash or Sacre and the Lakers can’t trade Kobe if they wanted too. The others trades he Lakers had something worthwhile being multiple picks and a young promising player/talented vets.

          • TheTruthKills

Is that what we have to resort too? Talking about the good ole days and feeding on the scraps of past victories? Our track record means nothing at this point. How did our track record work out with Dwight? We simply don’t have the assets to throw around and land stars at this point.I hate to break it to you, but this will be a long and painful rebuild unless that track record you put so much faith in lands us LeBron James. We’ll get back to the top one day, but if you expect to just wake up tomorrow and be in contention again you’re just going to be more frustrated and angry.

          • saythereal

I agree with you man and you make some great points but we gotta be positive man every player doesn’t think like Dwight Howard and its good to base things on your track record cause thats like a resume for a job to show people what you are capable of so expect the unexpected copy this discussion we’re having and watch what happens next…. “CONFIDENCE “

          • kookiebuger

There is a difference between being confident and delusional, right now us getting Love or any other top free agent this year or next year just seems like a dream.
