Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Gets Closer To Being In Game-Shape

After receiving the green light from doctors to ramp up his workouts, Kobe Bryant has wasted no time getting himself back in shape. On Wednesday, Kobe spoke to media members and claimed that he had gotten fat over the summer due to the lack of explosiveness his Achilles and medical restrictions that didn’t allow him to work out.

Today, the Black Mamba gave Laker fans an update via his Twitter account regarding the progress he’s already made in two days of working out.

It still is not known whether or not Bryant will be available for the Lakers first game of the season, but it is safe to assume that Kobe is getting closer to being able to return to the court for basketball-related activities.

He’s been very shy about giving timetables, as he feels that rushing this process wouldn’t be the best thing for him to do if he wants to come back to being the player that he was before the injury.

One thing is for certain; the Black Mamba will work himself until exhaustion, and he’s committed to doing whatever it takes to getting back on the court and helping the Lakers win another championship.

3 weeks of physical work out. then scrimmage without contact (3vs3 and 5vs5) then scrimmage with contact then back in the game. on month and a half approximatively.

maybe … can be… if we know Kobe better… he could be basketball ready in 3 weeks… a lot of speculations at this point…

    • cj

thats not true at all. he did not say he has to get into shape before 3v3 or 5v5 he said he just has to get in shape. so he could take a week the start on court activitys

      • Zimmeredge

it’s more complicated than that. eventhough there is “muscle memory” he must do a huge work on getting back a good balance in his legs and arms. then you have to think about physical preparation. it takes time because it’s a matter of sensation, of how you feel.

thats my point we dont know what he ment by three weeks he could have ment he needs 3 weeks to get to playing or he could mean he needs 3 weeks to get ready to play

          • Zimmeredge

if he didn’t do anything for 6 months (except “alter-g” running) he definitely needs 3 weeks then after that he can play. burn the fat, get his muscle back and balance the body. it’s a long process.
all in all, i think Nash’s timetable is good = he will see kobe by thanksgiving.

if you know kobe and we all do he will be there no latter then the rockets game. more then likely opening night

We couldn’t get Shaq to get in shape when he was injury free….Mamba!

    • http://www.haveslot.com/ richard

hahahahahahaha… I remember him… “I will rest on company time, got injured on company time, will heal on company time….” Shaq was always a character…

KB24 tweeted that he’s already lost 5lbs. However, he may return to basketball shape but not Kobeish type of level play at first given he takes the off season to improve on his strength and conditioning. But he shouldn’t rush to make certain he returns @ 90%=100%

  • KOBE24_7RINGS

wow 5lbs in a day, go KOBE GET THAT ATHETECISM,STRENGTH,SCORING AND DEFENSE BACK
