Lakers News: Kobe Bryant Expected to Play Small Forward

Kobe Bryant has always been considered a shooting guard from the moment he entered the league, but it seems as those days are coming to an end. With Jodie Meeks expected to enter the Lakers’ starting lineup, the five-time champion will have to change positions and move into the small forward slot.

Bryant will have a small height disadvantage as most small forwards in this league are about 6’8″, whereas Kobe stands at 6’6″. Kevin Ding tweeted that coach Mike D’Antoni will be sliding Bryant up one position now that Meeks has earned a starting role on this team.

D’Anton is playing around with rotations, and the latest one has Bryant playing in a pretty unfamiliar position. Devin Ebanks has taken Metta World Peace’s position in the starting lineup, and he did so in the Lakers’ win over the Bobcats on Sunday. Meeks will most likely be getting his first starting job for the Lakers on Saturday, and it will be interesting to see how the team plays.

Also, Steve Nash may make his return from injury on Saturday, meaning he will be sharing a backcourt with Meeks, a lethal three-point shooter.
