Injuries continue to pile up for the Los Angeles Lakers with Kobe Bryant being the latest to go down for a considerable amount of time. Fortunately, the Lakers might be able to get Jordan Farmar back sooner than expected according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPNLosAngeles.com via Twitter:

Once Bryant was officially ruled out for six weeks, the Lakers were forced to make a move and as a result signed former lottery pick Kendall Marshall from D-League. It remains to be seen how much head coach Mike D’Antoni will use Marshall moving forward, but having the former North Carolina on the bench definitely gives the team some insurance with the injuries really taking a toll on this team.

Although Farmar appears to be the verge of returning, the team will likely be without Steve Blake for at least another month with the elbow injury. Blake played well in relief of Nash and without Bryant on the floor.

As for Steve Nash, the two-time NBA MVP will be out another month with the nerve root irritation. It seems to be more of the same with Nash’s injury situation as his return date continues to get pushed back with every update on his progress. It may be only a matter of time before Nash is medically forced into retirement, but the team will hold out hope that he can play out the season upon his return.

I’m actually kind of excited to see this Kendall Marshall kid play. D’Antoni seems to be pretty good at getting the most out of other team’s lottery cast-offs, now that they’re here with the Lakers…a list that includes Xavier Henry and Wesley Johnson. If Kendall can demonstrate that he can pick of the reins at the point and actually run with this team, he may well become a valuable asset off the bench when Farmar presumably becomes the starter upon his return around Christmas time.

I’d rather watch Farmer play than Kobe play any day of the year.

And let me guess….. You would also prefer Nash over Kobe right?
Not a slight on Nash because I wish him well.

Kobe is the teams leader and our best chance at winning a playoff series.

But those who hate or don’t like Kobe are free carry the burden of those feelings. Go Kobe ! Go Farmar ! Go Nash ! Go entire Laker team !

I’m hoping I see marshall play tonight. He has the young legs and pure point guard mentality to run D’antoni system to a T. We must make something happen with him quick. Him and jordan farmar will make a great tandem. The explosiveness and speed they both have will be beneficial for us the rest of the year.
