Lakers News: Jim Buss Not Willing to Blow Up Lakers Team

jimbussThe Los Angeles Lakers had one of the most successful off-seasons in 2012 when they acquired both Steve Nash and Dwight Howard. Everyone had high expectations for the Lakers and many thought they would challenge the Chicago Bulls’ 72-win season.

However, the Lakers are currently 15-20 and have been the most disappointing team so far in this NBA season. Nothing is going right in Los Angeles and the Lakers have yet to win a game in the new year. The front office has been blamed for not putting together a cohesive roster, but Jim Buss is staying behind his team.

Buss spoke to 710 ESPN Los Angeles and he talked about the state of the Lakers. Despite Los Angeles’ struggles, Buss is not willing to blow up his project.

“This team is built to win, it’s a very, very solid team. We haven’t seen them all together and play together for multiple games. So in my mind, we would not consider a temporary fix or blow it up. Why blow up something we have a future with?”

The Lakers will have a lot of questions to answer this summer, especially if the team fails to win an NBA championship. Their star center Dwight Howard is not under contract for next season and the front-office will do whatever it can to convince Howard to remain in Los Angeles for the long-term.

There is no question the Lakers are in serious trouble and there is a chance that the team misses the playoffs. If the Lakers do in fact miss the postseason, there should be some major changes to this roster.
