Lakers News: Jalen Rose Admits to Trying to Injure Kobe Bryant

By | September 18, 2012|

Remember when the Lakers took on the Indiana Pacers back in the 2000 NBA Finals? The Lakers ultimately won the series in six games, but things could have been a lot different if Jalen Rose had his way.

At the time, Rose played for the Pacers, and it was his job to guard the then-21 year-old Kobe Bryant, who had emerged as the Lakers’ second leading scorer behind Shaquille O’Neal.

In a recent interview, Rose admitted to attempting to get under Kobe during a jump shot to injure his ankle, possibly sidelining him for the remainder of the series.

Rose admitted that karma got the best of him, however, as Bryant ended up scoring 81 points against Rose’s Toronto Raptors six seasons later.

Shame on you Jalen. It’s so long ago but I do recall now that I thought that was a stretch/un-natural motion to stick your leg out so far!

I still remember that play like yesterday. Still remembering Kobe laying on the ground and trying to get up. Well that Karma actually came back in Game 4 which won the Finals that year. That was the game in which Shaq fouled out in overtime and Kobe scored like 9 of the Lakers last 11 points in OT to win that game and give us a 3-1 lead. Then they wrapped it up in Game 6. So that is why Jalen’s Fab 5 choked and why Jalen has never won anything! Because Karma is a bytch!
