The Los Angeles Lakers might not have to wait long for Dwight Howard’s decision after their meeting on Tuesday.

Reportedly, Dwight will be ready to announce his free-agent decision on Friday according to NBA Insider Peter Vecsey via Twitter:

Following the meetings with the Atlanta Hawks, Houston Rockets, Golden State Warriors and Dallas Mavericks, Dwight took one final meeting with the Lakers on Tuesday. The Lakers once again attempted to make one last pitch to the perennial All-Star in order to get him to sign a five-year contract extension on July 10.

The meeting included Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Mitch Kupchak, Mike D’Antoni and Jim Buss. Although Nash indicated the meeting having a positive outcome, no decision or any indication was given by Dwight in terms of his long-term plans.

Despite the uncertainty moving forward, Dwight giving the Lakers and all other teams involved will only help this nightmare scenario come to an end. The Rockets still appear to be the clear favorite in the sweepstakes to land Dwight on Friday, but the star center’s infamous indecisiveness may have him ultimately deciding to return to Los Angeles or heading to one of the three other teams that met with him.

Hopefully he stays with us. Dwights s good guy that’s been through hell with his back. But he’s working hard to recover and will dominate. The lakers will wake up and fix the coaching situstion and dwight will improve. The rockets aren’t that special when you think about it. They can’t offer dwight as much as the Lakers can. Rockets are just a fluke. I really think that this past season will be remembered as a necessary adjustment that made dwight tougher for future championships with LA

I’m torn on wanting him to stay, or go. He’s a headache, but when hes at the top of his game, he’s a beast. Max salary… yikes. Indecisiveness and poor free throws are a negative.
But I think having him locked in, its a powerful lure to get free agents and other stars to want to play with him. Overall, I guess Im leaning towards hoping he stays in LA.
