Being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers is a humbling experience. Few top-tier college prospects have had the opportunity to be taken by the storied franchise over the past few decades due to the team’s success. That has changed in recent years after two disappointing seasons without playoff appearances.

What will Kobe Bryant make this season? Find out here!

Along with all the perks of being apart of the Lakers organization, rookies occasionally bump into some of the greatest players to ever wear purple and gold. Rookie D’Angelo Russell has already had his fair share of conversations with a few Lakers legends, via SirxiusXM NBA Radio:

Russell, along with Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle, have also talked to Kobe Bryant. Clarkson was soaking up the knowledge from Bryant on a nightly basis last season while Randle frequently kept in contact with his superstar teammate. Russell spoke with Bryant briefly after being drafted by the team.

Although Russell didn’t play all that well during the NBA Summer League in July, the rookie will have a chance to redeem himself in October. The NBA preseason will get underway for the Lakers on October 4th with the team flying to Honolulu, Hawaii to take on the Utah Jazz.
