After only playing a total of 17 minutes in the Lakers past 14 games, Chris Kaman will start tonight for the Lakers with Pau Gasol out with a respiratory issue, according to Bill Oram’s twitter account.

Gasol had been playing very well in the Lakers last five games, averaging just over 17 points and nine rebounds per game while shooting just under 60 percent during the stretch — which included a 21 point, 13 rebound night against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Gasol is now added to what is seemingly an endless list of Lakers who will be out tonight with various ailments. Steve Nash, Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Kobe Bryant will all not play tonight against the Golden State Warriors. Gasol will miss his first game of the season and was the only member of the Lakers to start every game this season.

Without Gasol, the Lakers will have to rotate the platoon of Kaman, Jordan Hill, Shawne Williams and Robert Sacre at the power forward and center positions.
