Lakers News: Bernie Bickerstaff to Coach Lakers Tonight

The Los Angeles Lakers have fired head coach Mike Brown and the front office’s search for a new man in already underway. However, the Lakers have a game to play tonight against the Golden State Warriors, meaning someone will have to run the sidelines.

Brown revamped his coaching staff this summer and Mike Bresnahan from the Los Angeles Times tweets that assistant coach Bernie Bickerstaff will be leading the Lakers tonight.

At this point, there have been many names rumored to the become the next Lakers head coach. It is unlikely that the front office will name one of the assistant coaches as the interim head coach, so expect the a high profile name to join the Lakers some time soon.

The Lakers are currently standing at 1-4 and there was questions about Brown’s future with the team shortly after the loss to the Utah Jazz. Los Angeles has been struggling all season long, and his firing was not all that of a surprise.

THE ONLY CORRECT CHOICE IS TO BRING BACK PHIL JACKSON. AS YOU KNOW HIS IS PROVEN WINNER AND YOU KNOW THE TRIANGLE IS A PROVEN WINNING OFFENSE. THE LAKERS NEED TO KISS PHILS ASS TO GET HIM BACK. IT WILL PAY OFF IN THE LONG RUN.

Brian Shaw knows the triangle, is respected and is a prodigy under Phil Jackson’s Laker years! Get B. Shaw!

Phil would be perfect, but unless buss gives him TOTAL control, & 50% ownership,he’ll probably stay retired! dantoni knows how to run an up-tempo offense, and thats a plus! gotta work on DEFENSE too!!!! lakeshow4lyfe!!!!!!

JERRY SLOAN, COACH K, OR DON NELSON!

Obviously, either Phil Jackson or Brian Shaw, if one of them is willing, would be an almost perfect chance. I think Hubie Brown is the greatest basketball mind existent and a great coach. But even if he would come out of retirement one more time, he is too much of a teaching coach and both the fans and management want to win now!! Many other good coaches would be too much like Hubie. If the Lakers can’t get Phil or Brian, they should consider either Billy Cunningham, if he would come out of coaching retirement, or Damon Bailey if he would take the job. Billy Cunningham had a very similar bag of mixed talent when he won the championship in ’83. He was expected to win right away when the Sixers got Moses Malone and he did!! Likewise, I believe Damon Bailey who was the smartest basketball player I’ve ever seen, would be the kind of coach who could blend any mix of talent. And he would know how to teach, yet put more emphasis on winning!!
