Before the start of the season, there were questions about Pau Gasol’s future with the Lakers and which superstar free agent will take his talents to Los Angeles this upcoming summer.

Over the past week, there have been discussions of trading Gasol to the Cleveland Cavaliers in exchange for Andrew Bynum. While the move would save the Lakers $20 million once Bynum is waived, Los Angeles is looking for more assets and talks have stalled. With numerous teams looking to save money, the Cavaliers are currently looking for the best offer before the January 7 deadline when Bynum’s contract becomes guaranteed.

With ample cap room this upcoming summer, there have been rumors of Carmelo Anthony joining the Lakers. While he would like to remain in New York, this season’s frustrations have caused him to reconsider. According to New York Post’s Marc Berman, Anthony has the Lakers included on a short list of possible destinations.

You know, Carmelo can come to LA. But, Gasol will not have any salary left. Is Kobe willing to share $10 M of his $25 M per year salary.

It could have worked as an entertaining team with Gasol and Melo with Kaman at center.
    Blake running the point.

  • Lakers Return In 2014-2015

I love this possible lineup for next season.I guarantee a championship with this.

    PG Mario Chalmers
    SG Kobe Bryant
    SF Jabari Parker
    PF LeBron James
    C Jason Smith

    SG Nick Young
    SF Xavier Henry
    PG Kendall Marshall
    SG Jodie Meeks
    PF/C Ekpe Udoh
    C Aaron Gray
    C Robert Sacre

    • Brenny Ortega

Huh? Ya, the Lakers will def not end up with Parker AND LBJ on the same team! He’s not leaving Miami. You’re setting your NBA2K line up for next yr? Haha

      Starting line-up next yr
      Pg: isiah Thomas /blake
      Sg: kobe/meeks
      Sf: Wesley / swaggy
      PF: melo
      C: hill/ sacre

They would need a back up PF and they can play melo at SF too

      • Lakers Return In 2014-2015

We got a draft pick in the NBA Draft 2014 let us be positive now lol Lakers currently have the 9th pick in the best draft supposedly but you forgot to add the pick in you’re lineup.

That’s a good team you have but it’s very possible for the Lakers to get a high draft pick and attain Jabari Parker or Randle or Wiggins because the Lakers are losing at a rapid pace 6 losses in a row and something 10 road games in a row against tough teams and i just seen the score Utah is winning again,we are currently 13th in the west.Anything is possible it is a draft lottery.Maybe the King won’t come but Carmelo might come to the Lakers, either way Lakers would be great IMO.

        • Brenny Ortega

True. I’d like the Lakers to either pick up a NBA ready PG or PF. Wiggins, Parker, and Randle with be pick 1, 2, 3. Only way we’ll end up there is of they end up with a really bad record. Kobe won’t come back and lose games willingly. Kobes can barely sit on the bench and watch the Lakers lose. I say Lakers finish at worst 9th or 10th in the west. I even think they have a chance at 8th with everyone coming back for the 2nd half of the season. We’ll see man but IMO I think the Lakers front office needs to do some hw and bring a PG that can ball and stay healthy! We’ve bee. Cursed at the PG since VanAxel

          • Lakers Return In 2014-2015

Yup i like the idea of getting a PG in free agency.Maybe this Kendall Marshall kid can pan out or something.I guess Kendall is like in his early 20′s like 24 or 25 and he is a former first round pick or something like that. But yeah the Lakers need a PG that can be at least another Derek Fisher in his prime.

But yeah maybe the Lakers will get way better in the standings but right now it’s nah just gotta wait and see i guess.Kobe needs to get 110% healthy for next season this season would be nice to see him get back but next season is crucial for a healthy return for Kobe.

Especially if Carmelo or King James are coming to join us.The draft is going to be interesting and helpful for us if we continue to lose games.Lakers got money and a first round pick and hopefully a healthy Kobe going into 2014-2015.

          • GM Jack

LBJ will almost never be a Lakers in the life time. LBJ has 2 or 3 good years left. He paid his due in Cleveland.

            Miami is still a contender

If wade retires due to bad knees, they can take that off the CAP and go after Melo.

          • GM Jack

Wade is only playing 2/3 of the games. Next Season he will be down to playing less than one half of the games. Miami will ask him to retire or trade. I think he will retire.

          • Stephen Cash

You’re an idiot. Wade will play for 3 more years at least. LeBron has at least 6 great years left

    • 張棟崴

Although the Lakers really get Melo or LeBron next summer, they still have to get rid of Mike D’antoni or they’ll never win a championship….

  • Brenny Ortega

The Lakers should look at what orlando would be willing to give up along with Turk. I’d take jameer nelson in that deal. We’d basically would rent him for the rest of the season since he’s a free agent this summer. That would def help our PG problem and save the money after waiving turk

  • Jared

Melo? I’d much rather save the money and go hard for Love and/or Westbrook. Or better yet, KD.

  • OKC Sooners Country

The Lakers need big men that are willing to rebound and set hard picks.Get players with experience.Draft a freaking Point Guard.Lakers are tanking.

Next season the Lakers should follow this pattern. This season is a lost season.

    PG Marcus Smart/Lance Stephenson
    SG Kobe Bryant/Thabo Seolosha
    SF Carmelo Anthony/Shawn Marion
    PF Jordan Hill/Patrick Peterson/Ryan Kelly
    C Marcin Gortat/Jason Smith/Matt Bonner

    • Jay Autry Photography

Really really reaching… you pretty much think all these guys like the Lakers? Don’t think so.. NBA is a business. I like your optimism, but I don’t think half of those players will leave for less money. People have families to feed.

  • LakersHeatBeef

It’s not tanking. The Lakers are performing at their talent level.

  • LakersHeatBeef

The Lakers will be scouting players in college. But Carmelo is welcome as a Laker.

  • Jim Buss Fan Club

Why the hell do people keep hating on Jim Buss?Come on now Jim Buss is only doing the logical thing he is having his team tank to get him his franchise player for the next 10 years or more.Jerry Buss had Magic Johnson and James Worthy as his young highly drafted players and then later on he had Kobe and they were all acquired as young men in the draft.

Jim Buss deserves the chances to select Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins these are once in a lifetime type of talents.Imagine if Jim Buss has a team this season that wins 20-24 games this season and then next season he has Jabari Parker or Andrew Wiggins in his press conference introducing him to the LA Media and then he cold finally relax and shut the haters up.Jim Buss is gonna put white spots on the haters brain with all his decisions.

Pure stupidity to be childish about Jim Buss he deserves a chance to draft his own franchise player that way he can make his own legacy.Players control the outcome of every game so Jim Buss is not to blame.Just wait until you see who he draft cough cough Andrew Cough bye now.Jabari Parker?Andrew Wiggins?Tanking is what Jim Buss wants from the looks of it and i love it.Jim Buss is a genius.

    • AntRodrigues

Jim Buss Fan Club? Is that you Mr. Buss? I am not one for throwing hate around at Mike D and Jim Buss but to even consider tanking is against anything the Lakers have stood for in a long long time. Players still want to play for the Lakers minus D12…. LA is the place to be for a young NBA star or seasoned vet….. The Lakers will pick up some great talent because they have always found a way..

    • C*HarrisTHEboss

      your a clown

    • Jay Autry Photography

uh… Jim Buss’ legacy started with Andrew Bynum. But I get what you’re saying.

  • itsmantonio

Why nobody in this chat makes any sense:
Are we all forgetting that Carmelo is only opting out to get MORE money! No way in hell can any team pay 2 players almost $60 million a year. I can go on and on, on why this can’t happen but I’ve already said enough

  • #1 L.A. Fan

We need Bynum more than Melo. It just doesnt feel right giving up Gasol though. Sure we have Kelly but are we sure we can count on him? I highly doubt LBJ is going to leave his Heat but that would be the best if got him.

  • Jay Autry Photography

Ha everyone is talking like Lakers are really going to tank. 8 seed. Watch
