Lakers News and Rumors Recap: Will Dwight or CP3 Stay in L.A.?

NBA: Houston Rockets at Los Angeles LakersThis summer, Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers will become an unrestricted free agent. Paul has a five-year $108 million contract offer from the Clippers, but much like Dwight, will wait until July 1 to make a decision. With two seasons on the Clippers, and for the most part, a wave of success, CP3 will more than likely be back in Los Angeles. The Clippers can offer him more years and money than any other team.

Lakers Nation polled out fans to ask them the question, “Who Returns – Dwight Howard or Chris Paul?” The Lakers and Clippers have the financial advantage over potential competing teams, but a guaranteed return hasn’t been expressed by either player. In the poll, 54 percent believed that Dwight Howard is more likely to come back to the Lakers with 46 percent voting in favor of Paul. Check out the post to see which reasons you all stated as to why they may return.

Eddie Jordan of the Lakers staff took the head coaching job at Rutgers at the end of last month. But that wasn’t the only off-season coaching move to take place. Assistant coaches Bernie Bickerstaff and Chuck Person won’t be retained by the Lakers for next season. Returning staff members will include Dan D’Antoni, Steve Clifford, Darvin Ham and Phil Handy.

In case you are wondering how Kobe’s Achilles injury is doing, the Lakers guard posted a photo of his ankle today on Instagram. Things seem to be in order for Bryant, who has had a rather speedy process with this injury so far. Kobe has done a good job of keeping his followers updated on his condition since the injury, so it’s worth adding him on Twitter and Instagram if you haven’t already.
