Lakers News And Rumors Recap: Trade Rumors Heating Up As Deadline Nears

With the NBA All-Star weekend wrapped up, the Lakers are in dire need of adjustments. The team is preparing for the second half of the season, but some players may be on the trading block as Thursday’s deadline approaches. The Lakers are currently in the rumor mill of the NBA as of late and today is no different.

In the most recent reports, Lakers power forward Jordan Hill has been in trade talks with the Brooklyn Nets. Hill would fill in for the Nets’ disabled player’s exception for starting center Brook Lopez. The discussion of this trade will keep Hill’s salary off the books, so the Lakers will continue to pursue this trade even without getting anything in return.

Also, Steve Blake has been brought up in a rumor for a possible trade to the Golden State Warriors. Blake is currently one of the only active point guards on the roster and making such a move to the lineup would help the Lakers shed more money to get under the luxury tax for next season.

Along with Gasol on the trade block as well, the Lakers will continue to look for the right situation before the trade deadline hits on February 20th.

When you are last in the league or almost last. You cannot make any wrong moves. Trade the whole team!

    • Bira Deodato

I suppose you’re right all of them are shit? How about Marshall, Young, Farmar? We just found ourselves a new PG and you want us to get rid of him?

  • Jim213

Not cool but, per Adrian Wojnarowski (Yahoo Sports), the Lakers and Nets have discussed dealing Jordan Hill to the Nets. If FO makes this move it has to be for a good draft pick or something of VALUE. Doubtful, but Shaun Livingston and at least a second rounder would be nice.

    • JT

It would be nice if we could get something from the nets but they have nothing to give us. They already gave up so many draft picks I doubt they would give up anymore

  • Robert Perez

Don’t want to see hill go, but I doubt he’s gonna stick around and play for D’antoni. No bigs are gonna want to come here. We’re stuck with a Sacre and Kelly/Williams front court… Those game tickets should be at Dleague prices.

  • Grumpy Kobe

looks like im going to watch my team crumbles with my own eyes.. its either the Lakers will be gone like Seattle or watch this team go like Bobcats.. this FO SUCKS and Kobe going to retire..Magic Johnson continues to mock the Lakers…
I’m just going to Focus on my life .. this Lakers isnt the same anymore…

  • Jay Brodes

as long as we get rid of dantoni i am coolio…he should be fired stat!
