Kobe Bryant has only played in six games this season, but the five-time champion can still draw a crowd.  Bryant and Nike hosted a promotional event on Saturday at the Westfield Culver City mall to promote the latest release of his Nike Kobe IX shoe.  Along with discussing the Masterpiece Kobe IX, Bryant sent a warning out, saying revenge will be quick and sweet.  The injured guard also took the time to congratulate Allen Iverson on having his jersey retired by the Philadelphia 76ers with an Instagram post.

Friday was the only game over the weekend for the Lakers and they will be back on the court on Monday against the Portland Trail Blazers.

Kobe Bryant’s Message To The Lakers Fans: “Revenge Is Sweet And It’s Quick”

  • quickster007

C’mon, the Lakers are a shell of their former self. What the Lakers have are three players that are has been, a coach who doesn’t have the right players, a system that doesn’t fit the type of players the Lakers have. This system that predicated on what Steve Nash can do. He is a shell of his former self and the main reason this system is failing. Solution, get rid of the coach, don’t re-sign Nash, Pau and Kobe’s when his contract is up. Start fresh with George Karl or Nate McMillan as the coach. Grab a few defensive minded players cause defense win championship. Kobe is shell of his former self. He might say his gonna do this, but year after year his been going overseas for treatment on his knees. His knees is basically shot. It’s time to draft some young players and sign some younger free agents. It’s like the Lakers start fading right after Jerry Buss death or the spirit of winning went with him.

Sounds like you are from Seattle. Karl or Nate McMillan. Byron Scott took the lowly Nets to the finals twice. He deserves a shot. He is a Pat Riley, Spoeltra type of philosophy.

    • richard

Sounds like your team hasn’t sniff a iota of championship too! No wonder!

    Per Sam Amick: Phil Jackson

“I think the Lakers will probably stay pretty pat. Make another extension of the year they had this year with the younger players and players coming in that they can look at and see if they can’t get a core group of young players together. Trust the fact that Mike can kind of blend a gun and run and run and gun team.”

    • richard

I think Phil is just making fun of the FO in this… at the same time it’s a direct jab at Jim and Mitch.

      • richard

If they can somehow snatch Deng out of Cleveland…. together with the first pick… I do think that Lakers is going to be very competitive… Gasol is still very good manning the middle…if he can sign to a lesser contract inside 9M and get Deng at 15M.. then somehow release Nash… we will be in a very good position next season. i love Marshon Brooks better than Bazemore.

Gasol, Deng, Wes, Kobe, Farmar… that would be our starting lineup.

        • vdogg

gotta disagree. deng’s best years are behind him.. and you can’t count on gasol to play D or rebound anymore. the lakers are better of signing FA trevor ariza and drafting a young center or PG.

          • vdogg

            that should read “better off”

          • Daryl Peek

I like Deng. Would have no problem with him in purple and gold if the price is right. I like Ariza also, as a cheaper option. Gortat is the player I’d target out of Washington. He’d be a perfect fit in the D’Antoni system and cost effective also.

The team has enough wings IMO. PF/C are the most pressing needs. Next would be PG.

          • antzer

Yup, agreed on Deng, Ariza and Gortat + high draft pick. I think we can get rid of Wes and maybe pick up MWP again for some cray cray affect lol

          • richard

are you sure Deng’s best days are behind him?… he is 29yo and a 7 years NBA veteran, he is into his prime basketball wise.

Ariza is too skinny… we already have players that plays his position. Deng plays the 4, and is an ideal stretch 4 in MDA system. Most PF today are 6-8 tp 6-9… that is exactly Deng’s height.

        • Daryl Peek

9 mil might not be enough to keep Pau. He will get better offers and some will be potential contenders.

  • richard

Watching the Kings-lakers game on replay… just cant fail to notice the talent disparity in position by position… only the center position have the lakers somewhat has an advantage… all the other positions, including those that comes out of the bench are just better for the Kings….sigh… take a loot at this comparison for the starting 6 and tell me how the hell are we going to win that many games…

    Gasol vs Thompson
    Williams vs Wes
    Gay vs Bazemore
    Mclemore vs Meeks
    Thomas vs Marshal

    that’s 4-1 in Kings favor.

    • lakerfan0

I think Meeks is better than Mclemore tho. So 3-2 IMO

      • richard

in terms of skills, talent and potential…i will take Mclemore… if anything, they should cancel oout… but better? I don’t know mayn…

    • Chrmngblly

I would bet money on Marshall in 2 years, in one year, I dunno. Also, I think Brooks could take Mclemore and I think it will be Kobe vs. Gay. How does that look now?

I also think we win on a deeper bench and better conditioning once we jettison a certain point guard.

      • richard

you are correct in your assessment for next year when all will be healthy, specially Kobe… but I am talking about the last game agains’t Kings…. talent for talent… we were clearly on the short end of that game…

lol, yeah, that certain PG might just retire at the end of this season… be careful what you wish for… so they sat.
