A number of draft prospects have come out and praised the Los Angeles Lakers explaining their admiration for the history and for Kobe Bryant. On Tuesday, Arizona product Aaron Gordon became the latest to express his desire to play for the Lakers and learn from Bryant. Just like many other draftees, the chance to learn from one of the greatest is seen as an invaluable experience.
In addition to the draft, the Lakers have to consider which players they want to bring back from the next season. Ryan Kelly had an impressive rookie year with the chance to return to the Lakers. The team has until the end of the of the month to give him an offer and make him a restricted free agent.
Similarly, the Lakers are rumored to be interested in bringing Kent Bazemore back, whom they acquired from the Golden State Warriors near the trade deadline for Steve Blake.
As for the ongoing coaching search, Larry Brown claims to have no interest in taking the opening wishing to stay at SMU and continue to help build the school’s basketball program. With the Lakers full of uncertainty right now, TNT analyst Charles Barkley called the team’s head coaching vacancy a bad destination for potential candidates.
