paufectionToday, July 6, is the 33rd birthday of Los Angeles Lakers forward Pau Gasol, and we here at Lakers Nation would like to send our best birthday wishes to the big man.

Gasol joined the Lakers in 2008 and instantly turned the team into championship contenders. In his time in Los Angeles, Gasol has won two NBA championships and has become a fan favorite for both his efforts on and off the court and his superb professionalism.

With the news that Dwight Howard will leave the Lakers for the Houston Rockets, fans certainly appreciate what Gasol has done for them. There is nothing like the pressure of winning in Los Angeles, and Gasol has proven that he can perform on a high level for a franchise like the Lakers and a city like Los Angeles.

Happy Birthday, Pau!

Remember that Pau Gasol was not only, even just recently, pegged as the best ‘international player’, he almost single handedly helped Spain to a World Championship. Pau is no scrub.

He’s a superstar disguised as an ‘all-star’. He used to be trouble for the Lakers when on Memphis. When healthy (let’s hope this is the case), he can play at the top of his game. Look at Tim Duncan – previously thought his career was winding down, and then he made it to All First Team NBA, and also ‘almost’ won another championship, and in great form. Tim had some down years, but he’s still at the top of his game.

Same true for Pau. He has really been playing ‘injured’. Once a player has a build up to a ‘nagging’ and debilitating injury over the years, after it is resolved, there is a chance for a ‘re-load’ and second wind for another few years of greatness.

That’s Pau. He’s going to be a new person in the next year. Same with Kobe.

Happy Birthday Pau. Glad you’re still with us in LA. Celebrate!!!
