Lakers Nation Week In Review: Jan. 26 – Feb. 2

NBA: New Orleans Hornets at Los Angeles LakersThe Los Angeles Lakers had a very productive four-game week and in the past seven days, the team won three of their past four games. The team is beginning to play as a cohesive unit and it is making a push for the final spot in the Western Conference playoffs standings.

Los Angeles suffered a tough loss to the Phoenix Suns Wednesday night, but it did beat some talented teams during the past week.

Lakers Nation Game Recaps:

The Lakers opened the week on Sunday when they hosted the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder played Los Angeles a few weeks before and the team dominated the Lakers for the full 48 minutes. However, on Sunday the Lakers put together the best performance of the season and won the game, 105-96.

Los Angeles returned to the court Tuesday night when the New Orleans Hornets came to Southern California. The Lakers continued to play great basketball and Kobe Bryant once again took the role as team facilitator. Even though the Hornets are not on the same level as the Thunder, the Lakers needed this win before their Grammy Road Trip.

The Lakers began the road trip in Phoenix, for Steve Nash’s return to his former home. Los Angeles had a double-digit lead throughout the entire game, but the team collapsed in the fourth quarter. The Lakers could not hold on to the lead and lost the first game of their long road-trip.

Los Angeles ended the week in Minnesota for a game against the capable Timberwolves. The Lakers once held a 29-point lead, but allowed the Wolves back into the game. Even though Minnesota made a great run in the second half, the Lakers held on 111-100.
