Yesterday, Shaquille O’Neal took a shot at former Laker greats, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Wilt Chamberlain.

O’Neal tweeted out a picture of who he believes are the two best Laker centers of all time: George Mikan and himself.

The Lakers have had the good fortune of having the some of the greatest centers this league has ever seen. They all dominated the game in their respective time periods, and did so in their own way, but who was the best?

So we decided to ask Lakers Nation, who is the greatest Laker center of all time?

Despite Shaq’s claims that he and Mikan were the two greatest Lakers centers of all time, it was Kareem and Shaq at one and two on the list. Kareem took 70 percent of the vote with Shaq a distant second at 21 percent.

Wilt Chamberlin and Mikan didn’t fare too well receiving only eight and 1.4 percent of the votes, respectively.

Why are people not understanding that these players can’t be compared by stats? Most of you (including me) weren’t alive in Wilt’s playing days – so then why are you judging the game? I mean, there’s nothing that says Shaq can’t score 100 points and grab 50 rebounds if he was playing in Wilt’s time. No doubt, all four were great centers, but when it comes down to actual ability (disregarding stats), Shaq is my pick.

I agree, and it really isn’t even close.Kareem’s impact on the game is highly under appreciated. From his dominance at UCLA (88-2) To the NBA championships,MVP’s,longevity ,and finishing as the leagues scoring leader by a landslide. The man was perhaps the greatest? That is why I don’t like comparing greatness. But Kareem is right up their with anyone you name from MJ,Magic,Kobe,Oscar etc…. so it’s hard to put a center in Kareem’s class in my book.Wilt is probably second but his era wasn’t as challenging until Kareem came nine years into his career.Third is a dog-fight between Shaq and Akeem the dream.
