Lakers Nation Interviews Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks (Videos)

Late Wednesday night before the Los Angeles Lakers played the Houston Rockets, the news broke that Steve Blake had been traded to the Golden State Warriors and shooting guards Kent Bazemore and MarShon Brooks were headed to Los Angeles. Get to know Bazemore and Brooks in their first interviews with Lakers Nation. A graduate of Old Dominion with degrees in criminal justice and human services, Bazemore could be competing for one of the most intelligent players in the Lakers locker room. Born in New Jersey, Brooks grew up a fan of Shaquille O’Neal and became a Laker and Kobe Bryant fan when Shaq made his way to Los Angeles. Kent Bazemore plays like Marcus Smart exactly.Bazemore reminds me of Marcus Smart from OSU.Serena Winters next time you see Kent Bazemore please tell him that he plays like Marcus Smart. We should start a Kent Bazemore Lakers Nation fan club lol ha ha ha that’s too cute lol.Anyways Bazemore is a big strong guard and he can defend and score.

MarShon Brooks looked to be comfortable and excited playing for the Lakers. He was energized to be on the Lakers,he seemed unstoppable in the fourth quarter.I think MarShon Brooks will do what Gerald Green has done for the Suns.Actually MarShon Brooks has the potential to far exceed anything Gerald Green has done as i think MarShon Brooks is a better player than Green but he just needs a chance to play big minutes and then he can prove his worth.

rooks was one of the best rookies in the NBA his rookie season and he was dominant in the NCAA as the beast from the big east in College when he was breaking scoring records.Brooks dropped 52 points in a game in College and had some other huge games.MarShon Brooks fits the D’Antoni system perfectly.I think MDA might play Brooks and Young together a lot so Brooks will get minutes regardless since he is so talented and this is a 27 game audition for Brooks and Bazemore. Both players will be brought back and others will leave IMO.

MDA might try this out and love it.

    PG Kent Bazemore
    SG Nick Young
    SF MarShon Brooks
    PF Wesley Johnson
    C Pau Gasol

    PG Kendall Marshall
    SG Jodie Meeks
    SF MarShon Brooks
    PF Jordan Hill
    C Pau Gasol

    PG Kendall Marshall
    SG Kent Baemore
    SF MarShon Brooks
    PF Ryan Kelly
    C Pau Gasol

    PG Jordan Farmar
    SG MarShon Brooks
    SF Wesley Johnson
    PF Pau Gasol
    C Chris Kaman

      Or…starting;
      PG Kendall Marshall
      SG Jodie Meeks
      SF Kent Basemore
      PF Ryan Kelly
      C Pau Gasol
      with the 2nd unit being;
      PG Jordan Farmar
      SG Marshon Brooks
      SF Nick Young
      PF Jordan Hill
      C Chris Kaman
Lost in the mix right now seems to be; Wes Johnson (who I really like, but I see more as a situational defensive specialist/stopper), X. Henry and Steve Nash.

When Kobe comes back next season, I see no reason why Nick Young would need to be re-signed.

If I were Mitch, I would try and go after Marshon Brooks. Just as good a scorer as Nick Young and PLAYS DEFENSE! Both players idolize Kobe’s intensity so expect them to play hard while playing under Kobe’s Wing.

I would also keep Kent Bazemore coming off the bench with the 2nd unit. Wesley Johnsons Defensive attributes are too great to give up in the starting lineup. Make him starting SF, Bazemore brings energy off the bench as SF, and Brooks can play SG, Farmar Point, and Ryan Kelly’s contract should get bought and lakers could move up Jordan Hill as PF for the defense.

Both of the new players Brooks and Bazemore played very hard and got a win.
