In the third set of pre-draft workouts for the Los Angeles Lakers, Louisiana-Lafayette’s Elfrid Payton was asked back for a second workout at the Lakers facility. He was high on their radar after his skill impressed many during his first workout at the Toyota Sports Center.

One of six children, Payton started school at the early age of three years old and grew up with five sisters. He entered college at 17 and by his junior year was recognized as the national college defensive player of the year and presented with the 2014 Left Driesell Award.
