Remembering When Lakers’ Kobe Bryant Scored 61 at Madison Square Garden

It’s been a fond week of memories so far for the Los Angeles Lakers. And with the team about to start their longest road trip of the season, the memories are a nice distraction. After yesterday (Feb. 1) marked the four year anniversary of the Pau Gasol trade with the Memphis Grizzlies, today marks another happy anniversary for the Lakers.

On this date back in 2009 the Lakers were in New York City to take on the Knicks. That night Kobe Bryant had a game to remember, scoring 61 points. It was, and still is, the highest point total ever to be scored at the famed Madison Square Garden.

So, a very happy anniversary to Bryant and the Lakers. Below is the box score from that night’s game and the video of all 61 of Bryant’s points.
