Lakers, Hornets Reportedly Near Deal for Chris Paul

The trade winds continue to swirl as it appears the Lakers are very close to acquiring Chris Paul from the New Orleans Hornets.

The latest report is stating that the Lakers will be completing a trade with the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Hornets that will allow the Lakers to acquire Paul.

The report that the trade was for Andrew Bynum appears to be premature. Other reports say that the trade is nearly complete.

While this certainly improves the Lakers backcourt it does do quite a bit of damage to the frontline. If the Lakers are still able to acquire Howard they may be able to still have a dominant post presence. However, with Bynum’s injury concerns a very issue it’s possible that Los Angeles is one twisted knee away from having Derrick Caracter as their starting center.
