Hey everyone. I’m Amy Halvorsen. And you’re watching LNTV where we tell you all the latest Lakers News… like how the Lakers beat the Clippers on Wednesday night ninety-six to ninety one. My favorite part of the game? When Metta World Peace tackled and sat on Blake Griffin….. Peace had crazy eyes during the game and brought the Lakers some much needed defensive play. In response to Wednesday’s win, Silver Screen and Roll said it best: “Ugly is Beautiful.”
In news that is no surprise at all, Kobe Bryant is the top earning player in the NBA. Turns out his endorsements from Nike, Smart Car, Panini and Turkish Airlines add up to twenty-eight million dollars. Couple that with his salary from the Lakers and Bryant earns an annual fifty-three point two million dollars – about five million more than Lebron James.
The latest tidbit to come out of the rumor mill was cooked up by Chris Broussard of ESPN and examined further by Eric Pincus of Hoopsworld. But Lakers Nation editor Daniel Buerge thinks this trade is unlikely. Pau Gasol for Kyle Lowry & Luis Scola of the Houston Rockets? Go to LakersNation dot com to read why this trade is improbable.
After gathering themselves this week, will the Lakers carry that momentum to this weekend’s games against Milwaukee and Minnesota? Let’s check out what Mike Brown had to say about the Lakers’ impending road trip…
Besides the Lakers struggling on the road, what can we expect to see this weekend? Well, the Milwaukee Bucks are seven for ten, ranked eighth in the Eastern Conference and will be playing without center Andrew Bogut who is out indefinitely after fracturing his left ankle. But the Lakers will need to watch out for the Bucks’ twenty-two year old point guard Brandon Jennings who’s been scoring an average of twenty point two points per game. The Bucks play at Chicago tonight.
After battling the Bucks, the Lakers head over to Minnesota where they face Ricky Rubio for the first time. Rubio and Pau Gasol played for Spain in the 2008 Olympics and will reteam for the 2012 Summer Olympics. And Timberwolves’ power forward Kevin Love put an end to rumors that he might be joining the Lakers when he signed a four year contract extension on Wednesday night.
You can watch the Lakers play Milwaukee at 5:30 pm on Saturday and Minnesota at 4 pm on Sunday. Don’t forget to follow our twittercast for a play by play, our facebook page for quarterly updates and hit up LakersNation dot com for the post-game chat.
