Lakers Donate $150K To Red Cross For Philippines Typhoon Relief

ts_131113_philippines_670As the country of the Philippines recovers from the devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan, the Los Angeles Lakers announced their plan to help with the relief efforts.

The typhoon struck areas of the Philippines on November 7-8 and left thousands without homes, food and clean water. Relief efforts have already started across the United States to send to the impacted areas.

According to the Lakers press release, the Lakers announced their plans to help in the relief efforts:

Lakers will donate $150,000, as well as give all proceeds from the Lakers Youth Foundation In-Arena Auctions at all Lakers home games between November 12-24, to the Philippine Red Cross.

The Laker donation comes after the NBA and NBPA announced two separate donations of $250,000 this past week as part of the NBA Cares program. This is not the first time the Lakers have donated to aid in recovery efforts, having made a donation to the American Red Cross last year to help the victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Laker fans can join the efforts by bidding on the auctions at the games or by donating to one of the non-profits listed by the team. The Lakers support UNICEF and the Philippine Red Cross and donation information can be found below via the official site of the Lakers:
