Continuing his offensive assault on the league and with the return of Phil Jackson as the coach of the Lakers, Kobe and company begin to turn things around. The season was highlighted by Kobe’s famous 81 pt game that can only be topped by one person in NBA History, Wilt Chamberlin.
This Lakers team also ended it’s rare one year hiatus from the NBA playoffs with one of the best first round playoff series ever played – taking the No. 1 ranked Phoenix Suns to the bring of elimination and highlighted by Kobe’s high-arcing J that gave us a 3-1 lead and sent Staples Center into a craze not seen since the 3peat days.
